Jenny Ryan joined Ben Shephard and Charlotte Hawkins on Friday’s Good Morning Britain where she opened up on her role on The Chase.

She was probed by Ben about how frustrated she must feel when viewers claim the show is fixed to help contestants win a big cash prize.

Ben asked: “So when someone goes, ‘Oh that Chaser’s thrown it,’ that must drive you, because I watch it and I know how hard you work, that must drive you absolutely mad to think you might go easy on someone?”

“No, we can’t afford to let our competitive instinct drop at any point,” replied Jenny.

“We are there to win every single match. We might feel guilty afterwards if we prevented a few extra quid going to charity maybe but you know, we still have to keep up that will to win.

“We’re as focussed as ever.”

Charlotte went on to ask: “Do you feel the pressure to keep up with the homework to know so much stuff.

“I can’t imagine what it must be like to want to know the answer to everything.”

“Yeah, you have to,” Jenny answered. “You have to have that curiosity and keep on top of the news.

“I’m fighting the fight to get into those papers and make some notes right now.

“Everything is changing every day. There is something new to learn every time.

“You have to be in work mode and keep up with things that are changing in the world. New sports records, new culture.

“Unless you are into it, it’s very tiring.”

Jenny went on to note it was a “full time job” ensuring she could take on contestants on The Chase.

“It’s our lives, we see ourselves as professional sports people, honestly,” she continued.

“We are practising all the time to be match fit.”

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV from 5pm while Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
