Is the Polar Patriots Warbond worth it in Helldivers 2?

There are several Warbonds in Helldivers 2, each offering unique toys to play with. But is the new one worthy of your hard-earned Super Credits? Let me answer the question: Is the Polar Patriots Warbond worth it in Helldivers 2?

Should you buy the Polar Patriots Warbond in Helldivers 2?

The Polar Patriots Warbond offers a shiny assortment of weapons, cosmetics, and boosters. If you’re into the icy theme of the new armor, then Polar Patriots may be the Warbond for you. Sadly, the Warbond may disappoint you if you’re after overpowered weapons.

Let’s look at the cosmetic offering first before diving into the guns. I think we can all agree that most armor in Helldivers 2 looks pretty similar. The Polar ensemble is far more striking, and if you’re tired of the norm, there’s plenty to enjoy. While the new helmets aren’t to my taste, they are unique and you’ll stand out with them on.

On that note, there are no emotes, but I adore all three of the new Victory Poses. Mime Instrumentation, Call the Helldivers, and Distribute Ballots are superb, provided you make it back alive. You can preview these and the armor without buying the Warbond.

There’s also a unique booster called Motivational Shocks, which protects against some slowing effects. This item is excellent for higher-level content when your squad already equips all the best boosters.

Sadly, I can’t recommend Polar Patriots for the weapons alone. On the first page, you can buy the AR-61 Tenderiser, which looks suspiciously like the iconic Halo Battle Rifle. Sadly, this weapon doesn’t bring anything new to the table and feels like an unremarkable Assault Rifle

You can kill trash mobs pretty easily with the Tenderiser, but you can say the same about any other weapon in the category.

The SMG-72 Pummeler, on the other hand, is pretty decent. If you’re like me and have been burned by the poor performance of other SMGs, the Pummeler may just restore your faith in the weapon class.

Range and damage seem pretty solid for an SMG, and it’s one-handed, which is a great bonus. If you’re comfortable battling at close range, the Pummeler is a decent option and arguably one of the best SMGs in the game.

Finally, we have the Plas-101 Purifier. I’ve been unable to test this weapon as much as the others, but unless I’m missing something, it sucks. I’m not a huge fan of weapons with a charge-up time, and you can easily kill your buddies who get too close

I wouldn’t mind if the Purifier shredded enemies as a trade-off, but it seems surprisingly weak. Unfortunately, if you’re interested in the Polar Patriots pack solely for the weaponry, It’s a hard sell.

If you really want to spice up your arsenal, I highly recommend the LAS-16 Sickle. This energy-based weapon is part of the Cutting Edge Warbond and is one of the few primary weapons I feel comfortable with in high-level content.
