How to get the Imperial Decree in Destiny 2

One of the best Kinetic Shotguns in Destiny 2 returned in Lightfall. The Imperial Decree was one of the many guns that Bungie, unfortunately, sunset a while back. But over the last few seasons, we’ve seen some weapons make a comeback. And that’s exactly what’s happened. So, if you want to get your hands on a very good Kinetic Shotgun, then you’ll want to find out how to get the Imperial Decree in Destiny 2: Lightfall.

Destiny 2: Lightfall – How to get the Imperial Decree

In order to get the Imperial Decree, you first need to get your hands on two Defiant Engrams. These can be earned either through the new Defiant Battlegrounds mode, or the Season Pass. It shouldn’t take you too long to gather two, but you’ll probably want to get more than that to have a better chance at getting a good roll on the Imperial Decree.

Once you’re ready, head over to the War Table at the H.E.L.M. Then select ‘Defiant Engram Decoding’ and choose ‘Recovered Leviathan Weapons.’ This will either give you the Imperial Decree, or one of the currently available class swords. Either way, you’ll want to decode a few versions of the Imperial Decree to get the best roll possible.

What makes the Imperial Decree special

The Imperial Decree is one of the better Kinetic Shotguns with the Aggressive Frame Trait. It also packs a hell of a punch with an Impact rating of 80. It’s not a very fast-firing shotgun, with a pump needed after every shot. But thanks to Aggressive Frame, the rate of fire will increase after a kill. It goes without saying that this makes it a good weapon for PvP.

As for PvE play, the Imperial Decree’s place in battle will vary from person to person. For example, if you use shotguns to clear out mobs quickly, then you’ll probably want better Reload Speed or Range. As for perks, Surrounded would be a good one to have in a scenario where you’re being overrun by enemies. Slideshot is also an incredibly useful perk for bypassing the suitably long reload times on Shotguns. By simply sliding, you’ll add one extra shell to the shotgun instantly. And in PvP, it’s hard to not see the benefits of that.

As mentioned previously, you’ll probably want to grind out as many Defiant Engrams as possible. It’s tricky to get the perfect roll on a gun. Plus, since the Imperial Decree is already so good, it wouldn’t hurt to try and get an even better version of the gun. With the right roll, even the new Tormentor enemies will have problems taking you on. Also, if you don’t already have the Perpetualis Auto Rifle, that’s something you should get working on.
