The Vortex: War’s Domain event is live and tasks players with earning XP for rewards. The most coveted prize on the list is the Magma Camo. The downside is you need 458,500 XP to get it. With this in mind, let me show you how to farm XP in Vortex Modern Warfare 3.

What is Vortex in MW3?

The Vortex mode is like regular Free For All but with a twist. The Raygun is always in play and kills in a single hit. The player who wields it is marked on the mini-map with a yellow gun icon, but it’s only fair considering how strong the gun is.

How to earn XP fast in Vortex

I’ll give a few gameplay tips in a moment, but there are two impactful ways to earn more XP in Vortex. The first is by using any XP Tokens you have. If you’ve purchased the battle pass, many sectors have XP Tokens up for grabs. There are a couple of free Tokens in Sectors 5 and 15, but they only last 30 mins each.

You can earn a bonus of 1,000 XP per match by using the Featured Operator Skin. At the time of writing, this is the War Horse (Swagger) Operator and is part of the War Horse Tracer Pack. This is a premium pack in the store and costs 2,400CP.

Can I earn Vortex XP through regular gameplay?

If you don’t own the Operator Skin and are out of Tokens, you can still earn XP the old-fashioned way; it’ll just take longer. You can continue your camo grind while playing Vortex, although it’s important to remember what game mode you’re playing. Vortex is a Free For All variant, so I recommend an Assault Rifle for versatility and stealth perks like Covert Sneakers. Unfortunately, there are always a ton of campers in Free For All, so be sure to check your corners and any off-angles in buildings.

The Raygun is great if you can get it, but it does make you a target. It’s worth going for if you can take the heat, and you’ll often run into players doing the same. If you don’t know what weapon to use, I recommend the MCW, as it’s easy to control and works at any range.
