How to enable 2FA on Fortnite

Epic rewards you with an exclusive free emote when you enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on Fortnite, though, that’s not the only reason why you should be doing so. Enabling 2FA, or multi-factor authentication, on your account makes it more secure. It makes logging in a quick two-step process to protect your account from hackers. All that said, here’s how to enable 2FA on Fortnite.

How to enable 2FA on Fortnite

Enabling 2FA on Fortnite only takes you a few minutes. Follow the steps below to begin:

  1. Go to your Account page.
  2. Click on the Password & Security tab.
  3. Below ‘Two-Factor Authentication,’ choose the 2FA option you want to enable. You can use an authenticator app, your phone via SMS, or your email address to receive the code whenever you log in.
  4. A prompt appears showing that it has been enabled.

If more than one authentication method is toggled on, check the box with the option ‘Make this my primary Two-Factor authentication method’ on your more preferred method.

Why do you need to enable 2FA on Fortnite?

There are fun rewards that you can receive after enabling 2FA on Fortnite. It unlocks the Boogie Down emote, for one. If you have the PvE co-op Fortnite: Save The World, you’ll also get 50 armory slots, 10 backpack slots, and a Legendary Troll Stash Llama.

Enabling 2FA is also needed in order to be able to send gifts. It is also required before you can participate in Fortnite competitive events like the Fortnite World Cup. To top it off, it also allows you to claim free games on the Epic Games Store.

With the major graphics update in Fortnite and the myriad updates that Epic consistently releases, you’ll want to hold on to your in-game progress and most treasured cosmetics and gear. So protect your account by enabling 2FA if you haven’t yet.
