To connect power lines in Cities: Skylines II, you will have to select it from the Electricity menu, click anywhere on the map, and follow a straight line. The game will automatically connect each power line and form a decently-looking structure. However, this won’t be of much help since you will soon find out that these power lines need to be connected to an energy source, so you will have to connect them to a power plant first.

Why would you want to do this? After all, creating a power plant seems to be enough to provide electricity for your city, right? Well, we are both wrong. You see, while a single power plant can provide power to a specific zone, creating new residential, commercial, or industrial zones far from the plant will not receive the power the plant generates. In this case, you have two options. The first one is to create a new power plant that provides power to the new area. If you do, then you can choose to connect both power plants by using power lines to optimize energy distribution and usage.

Another option that will not yield as much power as a brand-new plant, but will make sure that no pollution will affect your new construction area, is to build transformer stations. These will receive the electricity from power plants and distribute it to the area they are connected to.

Be sure to keep distributing your energy across the city. If not, many angry citizens will soon come knocking down your door. After all, a blackout is almost a death sentence in today’s tech era.
