Hitting the beach to start The Late Riser side story in Octopath Traveler 2

To begin The Late Riser, you need to speak to the Master Fisherman found on the beach of Tropu’hopu. If you’ve never visited Tropu’hopu before, you can get there by heading east of Beasting Bay: Anchorage on Toto’haha. Speaking to the Master Fisherman will reveal that his apprentice isn’t waking up in time to do his job. It’s up to you to help out and fix his apprentice’s inability to get a good night’s sleep.

The Sleepy Fisherman standing next to the Master Fisherman is the culprit. To complete The Late Riser in Octopath Traveler 2, you need to find a way to knock out The Sleepy Fisherman and force him to rest. To do this you can either Challenge the Sleepy Fisherman with Hikari or Provoke him with Ochette. The fisherman is pretty weak, so you shouldn’t have any issues beating him.

However, there is a catch. Since these fishermen have to set out early in the morning, knocking out the Sleepy Fisherman at night won’t work. Instead, you need to knock out the Sleepy Fisherman during the day to make sure he wakes up in time.

After knocking out the Sleepy Fisherman, a cutscene will play where he wakes up in time to go fishing with the Master Fisherman. The Master Fisherman will thank you for your work. After the cutscene ends you’ll have finished The Late Riser in Octopath Traveler 2 and be rewarded 4,800 Leaves and a Slippery Nut (M).

Octopath Traveler 2 is available on Steam.
