While Leon’s primary mission in Resident Evil 4 Remake is to save the president’s daughter (who was kidnaped), he always has time to help out his local shady merchant dealing with his usual annoyances. One of these is helping him deal with his distaste for rats infesting the different regions Leon explores throughout the game.
While these requests may not seem as important compared to the rescue mission Leon is currently tasked with, they can be completed to earn Spinels to be traded back to the merchant for unique rewards ranging from simple gunpowder to special guns that can only be obtained through trades. This request will have you kill four rats in the Waste Disposal area.
While the easiest way to kill a rat is with a bullet, preferably handgun ammo as not to waste more powerful bullets, they can also be killed with a knife. Rats do move fast, but if you’re willing to be a bit more patient and calculate, you can take out these rats without having to fire a single shot.
Rat 1
Unlike the last time you ran through the Waste Disposal area, Ashley won’t be attacked by infected while holding the pathway for Leon, and as long as you got rid of the regenerator, this should be a simple request. The first rat is found immediately after entering the waste disposal area. The waste disposal area can be dark, and the rat may blend in with the trash scattered on the floor. Rats are constantly on the move and may require you to wait for it to make noise before locating it.
Rat 2
The second rat is found on the other side of the bridge. Order Ashley to raise and hold the bridge up while you run across. This rat may be a bit more difficult to locate as it has a much wider circular room to run around and away from Leon as you approach. Simply listen out for it while running around the pile of garbage in the center of the room until you hear it scurrying about.
Rats 3 & 4
These rats can both be found in the same area in the largest section of the Garbage Disposal. Both rats will be running around wildly, often away from Leon, as you try to approach. There is the most trash on the floor in this section, with it also being the darkest. Should you have left the regenerator alive the last time you were here, and Ashley didn’t drop it with the bridge, it may also still be lurking about. As this room is the darkest to work with, Leon’s flashlight is a great help in illuminating the ground and locating the creatures.
