How to complete all 10 Party Challenges in Welcome Party

Pokemon GO has always offered Trainers ways to interact with each other. At launch, we had Gyms, and the list has expanded to include PvP Leagues and Raids. The Party system is another way to play with other Trainers, but the big difference is you need to be together in person. The Welcome Party questline tasks trainers with finishing ’10 Party Challenges’ but doesn’t really explain what that means. I’m here to fix that. Let me show you how to complete all 10 Party Challenges in Pokemon Go‘s Welcome Party.

What is a Party Challenge in Pokemon GO?

Let me explain what a Party Challenge is and how to access it so we’re all on the same page. Tap on your avatar in the screen’s bottom left corner, and you’ll notice a new menu next to ‘Friends’ called ‘Party.’

In the Party Menu, you can create or join a Party of up to four Trainers. If you create, a QR code will appear on your screen. Pressing Join will open your camera to scan one of those codes. Once every Trainer has joined the Party, your friends will be visible on the world map.

When everyone is together, the Party Leader can choose tasks for the team to complete, and these are known as Party Challenges.

As the Party Leader chooses the Challenges, it’s up to them what missions your team will tackle. The Challenges are pretty standard, but the ones I’ve seen include:

  • Catch 25 Pokemon
  • Make 20 Excellent Throws
  • Catch 14 Weather-boosted Pokemon
  • Win 2 Raids

The Challenges may seem demanding, but they aren’t too bad as they are a team effort. I’ve noticed that the Challenges are designed to be tackled while you’re out and about, as most won’t be achievable if you’re static at home. You can certainly hit the Catch quotas without traveling, but Challenges like winning multiple Raids may be a problem.

For the Welcome Party Task it’s as simple as completing 10 Challenges with friends. Beware that the Party automatically closes after an hour. At this point, you’ll be shown a few stats about your session, which is a nice touch. When your Party closes, you can open one again immediately after.

Can I complete Party Challenges as a solo player?

Unfortunately, without a workaround, you cannot complete Party Challenges alone. If you try to create a Party with only one player, a message will display stating you need at least 2 Trainers. This may frustrate players who like to have a clean Task Page, but it makes sense as the Welcome Party is meant to debut the Party feature.
