Maybe that gnarly scar would look better on the left side of your Psyker’s face. Or, perhaps, your Ogryn’s having second thoughts about that “The Emperor Is My Daddy” tattoo scrawled across his chest — whatever the case, you’ve fallen into the trap of character creation regret, and you need a way out.
Fear not, intrepid Inquisitorial warrior! The kind souls at Fatshark foreseen your grimdark fashion dilemma, and they’re keen to throw you a bone. To answer the question you undoubtedly arrived with: yes, you can indeed change your character’s appearance post-creation in Darktide, albeit with some limitations.
Where To Change Your Character’s Appearance
As soon as you spawn into the Mourningstar, take an immediate left and proceed down the hallway — you’re looking for the Barber-Chirurgeon. He’s toward the end of the walkway in a dingy office on the left, immediately across from the Armoury. After finding him, it’s really as simple as interacting with him and engaging in the beautification process. However, keep in mind that this do-over is specifically limited to your character’s core physical appearance.
What You Can Change
You CAN change your:
- Face
- Eye Colour
- Hair Style
- Facial Hair
- Facial Tattoos
- Body Tattoos
- Scars
You CANNOT change your:
- Body Type
- Height
- Voice
- Name
Naturally, none of your background selections can be changed either — you’re stuck with the personals concerning your homeworld, “growing up” vocation, and the like. There’s some mention of the alterations being “for a price” in the dialogue, but that doesn’t seem to be the case, nor do there seem to be any limitations concerning how often you can perform the plastic-surgery switcheroo.
And that’s that, for now. Bad haircuts, regrettable tattoos, and lackluster tans, begone! Just mind that you can’t be a little bit taller, regardless of your status as a baller.
