The False Dragon Titan is found in the northwestern section of the map on a small island in the lake in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. This titan is the strongest and can be one of the more challenging battles in the game should you be unprepared for the challenge ahead.
Despite being branded a dragon, this titan is a water type and a fish. It is best to bring either powerful grass or electric types that can take a strong water hit and stay standing. As this is preferably the last titan you’ll face, its completion is more of a marathon than a sprint.
The False Dragon Titan Location
The titan’s location will be marked on your map from the start of the game, but unlike the other titans, this one won’t immediately appear as you get close. Head to the upper corner of the island and look for a small orange fish Pokémon. This Pokémon will be screaming “Taitaaaan,” and interacting with it will begin the first phase of this titan’s fight.
Dondozo, The False Dragon Titan Phase 1
It is recommended that for this titan, your Pokémon is around level 55. Once the battle begins, you’ll realize this isn’t a dragon type but a massive fish. Dondozo is a water type, and your best bet at winning is using grass or electric-type Pokémon with strong damage attacks.
Dondozo hits hard and has a ton of health. Unless you are much higher in level, this will be more complex than a one-shot fight. Have a tanky Pokémon to switch off to and heal if needed, or have either your grass or electric type be very tanky to survive the battle. Having Dondozo’s full attention can ensure you’ll receive powerful water attacks that will decimate all types that don’t lower water damage.
Dondozo, The False Dragon Titan Phase 2
After getting Dondozo’s health to Red, he will escape and swim away to a nearby island. Follow him to the nearby shore, where Arven will join you as phase two of this battle begins. Dondozo will be buffed with his Mystica Herb and will be even stronger with his health fully restored.
Take the time between phases to heal whichever Pokémon were most effective and continue using them during this phase. Arven will bring his level 55 Greedent to the battle to assist you. Greedent is surprisingly tanky and will easily hold its own in battle while also dealing moderate damage. Having the second Pokémon in battle can also free you up to focus solely on strong attacks when Dondozo targets Greedent.
Tatsugiri, The False Dragon Titan
After defeating both of Dondozo’s forms, we realize the little orange Pokémon is the other half of this titan battle. Tatsugiri can be just as powerful as Dondozo, as it has also been buffed by the Mystica Herb.
In between battles, your whole team has been fully healed, allowing you to go all out in this final phase. While Tatsugiri is also a water type, it is also a dragon type. If you already have one Pokémon dominating the earlier battles, it could also carry this one with a similar strategy. With the additional Dragon typing, Tatsugiri is also very weak to dragon or ice attacks, with Ice being the much safer option. Rely on Arven’s assistance and focus on damage to finish this trifecta of a titan battle.
Reward: Climbing Surfaces
After completing the titan, your legendary Pokémon will eat part of the sandwich and learn how to climb walls. This is one of the last rewards players can get as it opens up almost the entire island to be explored, allowing you to head in nearly every direction. With this ability, you’ll be able to climb up any surface while pressing the “B” button while facing a wall. Now, you can head in any direction in a straight line without any cliffs or mountains standing in your way.
