Some games like to switch up the things you think you know and reassess. Helldivers 2 likes to make things a little complicated with their in-game, split-second code inputs, manual reloads, and even aiming down sights. I’m not going to lie; I was playing for about 7 hours before I figured out ADS in Helldivers 2.
How to use weapon sights in Helldivers 2
Helldivers 2 is a third-person game, switching to over-the-shoulder when you aim down the sights with the Right Mouse Button or Left Trigger on Playstation. However, almost all guns come with a sight, some of which are essential. The Sniper is almost unusable without them. To aim down the sights of a weapon in Helldivers 2, you need to press Mouse Wheel In on PC and Right Stick Tap on PlayStation.
It took me far too long to figure this control out, and I ended up overlooking some of the better weapons in the game. Weapons such as the Sniper Rifles are absolute monsters on the field, especially when you’re in a team. You can provide overwatch, picking off enemy weak points, while close-range teammates kite.
The Marksman Rifle is another gun that shouldn’t be overlooked. The over the shoulder zoom and accurate quick fire rate is already a real bonus. However, with the added top mounted scope, it excells at pinpoint accuracy over a good distance. It is the perfect weapon for picking off weakpoints. Aim down the sights to provide serious firepower in Helldivers 2.
One weapon I wouldn’t suggest using the aim down sights button for is he Helldivers 2 shotgun. Although the weapon is amazing, and a real benefit against bots, the sights are awful. It would be nice if the game decided to introduce some kind of weapon customisation that allowed us to chop and change our arsenal.
