Riot Games seems serious about evolving and expanding the League of Legends experience this year. After launching two new champions in 2022 so far, now Riot is introducing a brand new progression system in League of Legends.

Challenges is a brand new tab in your League of Legends profile window. This new tab is home to 300 challenges at the moment and will receive even more tasks over time. How LOL Challenges Work
First of all, let me make it clear that completing challenges is a new way to progress through the game for two purposes:
- To earn brand new rewards such as Titles that will be shown in your Summoner Card (Similar to Valorant titles)
- To show off your skills in completing challenges and get a place for yourself among the limited Grand Master or Challenger ranks in the Challenges section.
So, Challenges is actually a new way to make your account look cool and show off how experienced and veteran you are in League of Legends, and it covers various sections of the game, not only Ranked games.
At launch, you will have access to more than 300 challenges, and each challenge can be completed in certain game modes. Some in Ranked, some in ARAM, and some others in Clash.
When you open up the Challenges tab, you will notice a crystal on the left side with 5 categories with their own progression bars beneath the crystal.
The crystal shows your overall Challenges rank, while the categories show what type of challenges you are best at completing. Here is what each category means:
- Imagination: Modes and innovative plays make this category the home for those who dare to dream
- Example: Wave Goodbye – Kill 20 minions within 3 Seconds
- Expertise: Skillfully crushing your opponents is the way to earn big in this category
- Example: Unkillable Demon King – Win games without dying
- Teamwork & Strategy: Working together with your team to dominate the Rift is the focus here
- Example: Team Diff – Score aces between minion spawn and 15 minutes
- Veterancy: Putting up big lifetime numbers in kills, gold earned, and other stats will help boost this bucket
- Example: PENTAKIIIIIIIIL!! – Get Pentakills
- Collection: It’s in the name. Collecting cosmetics and engaging in loot fills the bars here
- Example: Spice of Life – Obtain Champions
Progressing through each category, not only makes it your strong point but also greatly contributes to your overall progression, helping you to rank up your Challenges crystal from Iron to Challenger!
How to Earn Points in LOL Challenges
Now, each challenge in the game will have its own token, showing you the task of the challenge, the mode you should perform it on, the reward you get from completing the challenge, and the amount of contribution to its dedicated category and the crystal. Complete challenges (not once but multiple times) to rank up!
All your Challenges achievements and rank will now be shown in the loading screen and matchmaking lobby, allowing you to show off how experienced you are in sweeping the hardest challenges. Also, the titles you earn from completing challenges will be shown just beneath your name on the Summoner’s card. Moreover, your Challenges crystal will also appear below your avatar.
