Holly Willoughby’s lawyers ‘have to come up with the goods’ as future uncertain | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

PR and Branding Guru, Mark Borkowski discussed Holly Willoughby’s future at This Morning during Sunday’s GB News.

Mark told hosts Stephen Dixon and Dawn Neesom that Holly’s “lawyers will have to come up with the goods” after news of Phillip Schofield’s affair surfaced.

Stephen began: “It’s very difficult one would imagine to actually go back on air anytime soon.”

“Look, she is a commodity for ITV,” Mark replied. “They’ve invested in her.

“Let’s think about it the controversy when Fern Britton was ousted from the programme.”

“Phillip wanted Holly to be there. She was a bright young thing.”

He continued: “This fall out, this rift that was much reported, that heralded this sort of chain of events.

“Did they all know that something was coming down the pipe…did they know that it was going to break?

“None of these things just explode simultaneously like a combustion engine.

“I mean, there was there was more to it, and that’s the point we’re speculating and there’s no clarity.”

Discussing Holly’s future, Mark added: “And you’re absolutely right, what she does next and her PR advice or agents or lawyers and everything, better come up with the goods.

“They had better come up with the goods because so far the way this has been handled by the publicists involved… this is like looking for a gas leak with a match.”

On Saturday, Holly took to her Instagram stories telling her followers she was “hurt” by Phillip’s “lie”.

She said: “It’s taken time to process yesterday’s news. When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not.

“It’s been very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie. Holly.”

An ITV spokesperson also released a statement claiming bosses knew nothing about Phillip’s affair.

They said: “Further to our statement last night, ITV can confirm that when rumours of a relationship between Phillip Schofield and an employee of ITV first began to circulate in early 2020 ITV investigated.

“Both parties were questioned and both categorically and repeatedly denied the rumours as did Phillip’s then agency YMU.

“In addition, ITV spoke to a number of people who worked on This Morning and were not provided with and did not find, any evidence of a relationship beyond hearsay and rumour.

“Phillip’s statement yesterday reveals that he lied to people at ITV, from senior management to fellow presenters, to YMU, to the media and to others over this relationship.”
