Together with executioner Yamada Asaemop Sagiri, the series follows Gabimaru’s quest for the Elixir of Life.

Along the way, he encounters other death row convicts, also searching for the Elixir of Life, as well as scores of unknown creatures, eerie manmade statues, and the hermit that was said to be the ruler of the island.
