Set during the end of the Edo period, Hell’s Paradise revolves around Gabimaru, a shinobi who is now a death row convict. He was believed to be the strongest shinobi in Iwagakure. As he is scheduled to be acquitted and released, many believe that Gabimaru is the one who can bring back the Elixir of Life from Sukhavati, rumored to be a Buddhist pure land. Together with executioner Yamada Asaemop Sagiri, the series follows Gabimaru’s quest for the Elixir of Life.
Along the way, he encounters other death row convicts, also searching for the Elixir of Life, as well as scores of unknown creatures, eerie manmade statues, and the hermit that was said to be the ruler of the island.
