Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded will be a completely revamped experience, both visually and in terms of game content.
Developer XR Games has announced that Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded, a completely updated version of their original hit arcade shooter Zombieland: Headshot Fever, will release on February 22nd as a launch title for the PlayStation VR 2.
Next to the gorgeous new artstyle, animations, and physics, the reloaded version will launch with a host of PS VR2 exclusive features, according to XR Games’ press release. Adaptive triggers will give each weapon its own distinct feel, and controller haptics will provide players with a unique sensation with every shot. The headset’s eye-track feature will empower the player’s perception of their surroundings, enabling them to sense the hordes’ presence much better, and foveated rendering will make sure finer details are always at their best at the point of the player’s eye focus.
“As soon as we saw the power and hardware features of PlayStation VR2, we knew there was a huge opportunity to increase the immersion and build the best version of ‘Zombieland: Headshot Fever’ imaginable.” said Bobby Thandi, Founder and CEO of XR Games. That said, the game is not only a fancy commercial for the PS VR2 hardware, as the report mentions major content updates in the form of a new story level, three new remix levels, new gun tange challenges, new guns, new perks and new gun skins, along with a new progression system, challenges and trophies.
The original Zombieland: Headshot Fever was an arcade light gun racing shooter built for VR, and the game’s double-tap mechanic was what made it unique. For every two headshots, players could activate ‘Adrenaline Mode’ to slow down time and rack up scores in zombie-sweeping races against friends and other players. The game also pays homage to the original film series by including fan-favorite characters such as Tallahassee, Little Rock, Wichita, Columbus, and doesn’t forget to preserve the dark humor that defined the original movie experience.
XR Games won the GP Bullhound Award for ‘International Success’ and ‘Best Small Studio 2021’ at the 2021 TIGA awards. Zombieland: Headshot Fever was also a finalist in the 2021 TIGA awards and the 2021 VR awards.
Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded will be available on PS VR2 for $24.99/£19.99, and the game is now available to wishlist on the PlayStation store.
