Jessica Capshaw and Alex Landi are returning to “Grey’s Anatomy” for its upcoming twentieth season, it has been confirmed.
Jessica Capshaw will be returning in a guest role capacity as Dr. Arizona Robbins and Alex Landi will reprise the role of Dr. Nico Kim. Capshaw was last seen on the show in season 14 and Landi last appeared in season 18. No details have been revealed yet about storylines for either character.
When viewers last saw Arizona, she was at Alex (Justin Chambers) and Jo’s (Camilla Luddington) wedding and she decided to leave Seattle to reunite with Callie (Sara Ramirez). The decision to leave the show wasn’t Capshaw’s. She was written off the show along with Sarah Drew who plays Dr. April Kepner.
As for Nico, he left following season 18 when he got a new job with the Seattle Mariners. Prior to that the character was in an on/off relationship with fellow doctor Levi (Jake Borelli). It’s safe to assume that Nico’s return will reignite that relationship but what brings him back to the hospital remains to be seen.
We’re hoping that both characters will stick around and fingers crossed Arizona is back on a full-time basis by the time we get to season 21.
“Grey’s Anatomy” is due to return in the US on 14th March 2024 and it’s expected to follow soon after in the UK on Disney+.
