There are a lot of Favors for players to complete in God of War Ragnarok, but some of them are more confusing than others.
After reaching The Crater area of Vanaheim, Kratos will be introduced to side quests involving the many restless spirits scattered throughout the region. Each spirit tells a different part of the story of the disastrous event that led to the creation of The Crater itself.
One of the first spirits you’ll encounter near The Plains area of the map is a man who is missing the other half of a brooch. Finding it will restore his memories and shed more light on the story of The Crater. Here is where to find the spirit and the other half of the missing brooch.
Finding The Spirit
Locating the spirit is relatively easy as he is in one of the first areas of the map you arrive at. From the Crater Entrance Mystic Gateway you acquired when first arriving at The Crater, head northwest towards The Plains.
The first area you’ll encounter is a wide-open space full of all sorts of enemies, just north of the Crater Entrance Mystic Gateway. Once you reach this space, immediately head left towards the boat dock. If you haven’t completed the Favor – Return of the River, then look for the dried-up river bed and head to the edge of it. The spirit will be located right near the edge, as seen in the map above. Talk to him to pick up the side quest.
The Other Half
From the spirit’s location, turn around and head back towards the Crater Entrance Mystic Gateway you came in from. On your right, you’ll see the grapple wall you dropped down from, and just beyond it a path with two poison totems. Skip both the grapple wall and the poison totem path, and instead follow the path leading upward, just past the poison totems.
Grapple across the gap and follow this path around the bend until it leads you up into an open area. Here, you’ll need to take down a mini-boss – Egil The Oath Guard – first, before you will be able to get the other half of the brooch. Upon beating the boss, head towards the southeastern part of the area, and you’ll find the other half of the brooch there. Once you pick it up, the spirit will appear and tell you the rest of the story. Upon doing so, the side quest will be complete, and you’ll get some XP, as well as the Crest of Desperate Heroics Amulet Enchantment.
