Gladiators adds youngest star to line-up as three new competitors unveiled | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV
The BBC’s revival of the iconic 90s game show Gladiators which will see elite athletes take on members of the public, will return to screens later this year.
The new series, which will be hosted by father-son duo Barney and Bradley Walsh, is the ultimate test of stamina, speed and strength.
Three new Gladiators have just been unveiled including the youngest competitor to ever appear on the show.
Dynamite, Apollo and Sabre join the Gladiators who had already been announced earlier this month – Nitro, Diamond, Giant, Fire, Legend, Fury and Steel – with them ready to take on brave contenders in the 11-part series.
Fans will also see the return of the much-loved The Eliminator, as well as a whole host of new games.

Dynamite
20 year old Emily Steel is set to be the youngest Gladiator in the current line-up.
The full-time elite CrossFit athlete also has a background in swimming, with her competing nationally until she was 15, and weightlifting, where she was an under 23’s British record holder.
A BBC spokesperson revealed: “Don’t underestimate Dynamite. She may look small, but she’ll blast into the competition and obliterate her opponents.”
Emily said of signing up to the show: “I’m too young to remember the original Gladiators, but my parents loved it and suggested I try out. Dynamite really does represent who I am and I’m excited to showcase what I can do in the games.”
Apollo
With the looks of a Greek God, Alex Gray comes from a rugby background and was actually the first British rugby player to ever transfer over to the NFL in the United States.
He captained the Atlantic Falcons team and is known for his competitive nature.
Alex shared: “Gladiator ready?? You better believe I am!! After playing Rugby and In the NFL, the opportunity to inspire as Apollo is a dream come true. I plan on leading from the front and never giving up.”
Sabre
Sheli McCoy goes by the name Sabre and is set on catching anyone she comes up against.
The British Weightlifting and CrossFit champion owns her own gym in Dundee and hopes to inspire future generations and viewers to reach their full fitness potential.
She revealed: “I truly hope Sabre will inspire and empower the younger generation of strong capable females just as the gladiators I once watched inspired me to be a confident athletic women.
“It is Sabre’s time to shine – here come the powerful girls!”
Gladiators is set to return to BBC later this year.
