Need help with Genshin Impact’s City of Gold Domain? This guide can help.

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to fight to the death against some Slimes and Shrooms, Genshin Impact has you covered. The familiar Slimes make a return in the newest area of Teyvat, Sumeru. Shrooms are one of the new enemy types introduced in this region. While some mushrooms are usually great for your health, these Shrooms want nothing more than to feast on your remains.

It may be fairly easy to squash these Slimes and Shrooms in the wild, but when you face them in a domain, it is a completely different challenge. As you enter the City of Gold, you’ll quickly realize there is less gold and more trouble waiting for you. Here’s how to enter the domain and squash the enemies inside.

Domain Overview

There really is a Slime and Shroom for every occasion. In the City of Gold domain, you’ll face Pyro, Geo, Hydro, and Cryo versions of each enemy type. With so many elemental attacks being thrown around, you really can’t go wrong with which characters you choose to bring into battle, so long as you bring a variety. For this fight, Anemo can also be a great option since it is one element you won’t face, and it counters all the others fairly well.

Depending on what difficulty tier you go for, bringing a Pyro and Electro character can also be beneficial. When either is combined with Anemo attacks, it will create a Swirl reaction. On tiers three and four, there is an added bonus for creating a Swirl reaction that gives you a whopping 50% damage buff for 10 seconds. Because of this, it’s not a bad idea to bring two Anemo wielders for this fight.

Domain Strategy

Regardless of what tier you take on, you’ll pretty much be fighting the same kinds of enemies. That means your strategy will work well in all settings. Since there aren’t any elite enemies, the domain compensates by throwing a larger number of enemies at you at once. Try to focus on grouping them up, so you can do damage to them all at once. This does add some risk to you taking more damage, but the reward is a quicker run through this domain.

When they are grouped up, focus on using Anemo damage, especially if you are in tier three or four. While they are being affected by Anemo, hit them with some Pyro or Electro to cause massive damage and chain damage between enemies. This is especially effective against the Slimes, so try to take them out first before moving on to the Shroom enemies.

The Shrooms are pretty resilient, so it is best to focus on one at a time if possible. The quicker you get that one out of the way, the fewer attacks you have to dodge while taking out the others. It will also be easier to maximize your Anemo damage and elemental reactions when you are fighting one at a time. Be patient, and don’t be afraid to evade and regroup if you end up getting overwhelmed.
