Following the tragic death of Gen V star Chance Perdomo, the producers of the The Boys spin-off TV series are re-crafting Season 2 and not re-casting the role of Andre Anderson. Eric Kripke, the creator of The Boys, reflected on Perdomo’s passing and discussed how Gen V will move ahead.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Kripke said, “I really feel for the actors because they were such a family. I know it’s really hard on a lot of them.”

As for Gen V Season 2, Kripke said, “It’s been challenging to say the least,” adding that filming on Season 2 was just a week away from filming when Perdomo died in a motorcycle accident.

“So we had to almost rethink everything, and in just a matter of weeks. But what I tell people when they say ‘Wow, that’s really crazy or difficult’ [is] that pales in comparison to what his friends and loved ones are going through. It’s the least we could do,” he said.

There is no word yet on how Season 2 will be adjusted in the wake of Perdomo’s death. As fans of the show know, his character, Andre, was a central figure in the overall storyline. Kripke said his mission is to “honor him and present his character as the hero that he was.”

Kripke said this could be a “small token for what his loved ones are experiencing right now.”

“The pain and the hardship really is with the people who loved him,” Kripke tells EW. “My heart goes out to them. It’s all so tragic and horrible, so if we can just honor him and present his character as the hero that he was, then that’s a small token for what his loved ones are experiencing right now.”

Gen V Season 2 will begin filming later this year, but there is no word yet on a release date. As for the main series, The Boys comes back June 13 on Prime Video for its fourth season. Another spin-off, The Boys: Mexico, is also in the works.
