Feathers and Nuggets are likely the first two rare resources that players will require in the game, as they are a part of some of the early-game upgrades. Both of these items can be tough to find, but Feathers have more than a couple of ways that they can be obtained.

How To Get Feathers

There are a few different ways to get Feathers in Forspoken. Opening Chests, defeating high-level enemies, and completing certain Detours can all net players a feather or two. These tasks are listed in the order in which they should be prioritized, as Chests are pretty easy to come by, strong enemies can be beneficial in multiple ways, and completing Detours can be tedious and not worth the time they take to see results.

In Chests Found Around The World

Chests can be found by simply exploring, or visiting the many points of interest on the map. An especially easy way to spot a Chest, even through walls, is to use Cuff’s scanning feature. Pressing Up on the D-Pad will have Cuff scan the surrounding area. This will show Frey all the items, enemies, and Chests within a short radius. It works exceptionally well, so be sure to scan endlessly when exploring new areas.

By Defeating Mutated Enemies

Mutated enemies can be found all across Athia, but they’re nothing to scoff at. These are upscaled enemies that deal massively increased damage, have much larger health pools, and have a generally more menacing appearance. They are easy to spot due to their distinctive size and coloring. They are oftentimes, but not always, surrounded by smaller enemies which can make the fight against them even more difficult. Players should not take on a mutated enemy unless they are very confident that they can defeat it.

By Completing Detours

Side quests, called Detours in Forspoken, can be found scattered all over the world. The tasks that must be completed for these Detours can range from defeating enemies, completing dungeons (Locked Labyrinths), or finishing a fetch quest. These can sometimes net players a Feather, or one can be found during the side quest, but because of the length of time it takes to complete some of these it is not recommended that players use this as their primary method of obtaining Feathers.

What Are Feathers Used For?

Feathers are high-value crafting items that can be used from the very start of Frey’s adventure in Athia. The most evident, and useful, application of the Feathers is to increase the Materials Pouch. This upgrade will cost 1 Feather per increase at first, going up to two after a few boosts, and will allow Frey to carry more items on hand. This is useful, as the longer players explore Athia, the more items they will accrue and it is not hard to max out your capacity for most of the common materials.
