Insomniac’s long-awaited sequel gets an exciting live-action teaser featuring Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
A few hours ago an ESPN live broadcast revealed the first live-action teaser for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Insomniac is planning to release the game in 2023 release, and it’s clear that Sony has commenced the marketing campaign. The video advert shows live coverage of Peter Parker trapping city criminals in a massive man-made web.
The trailer lasts only 15 seconds as it’s meant to be a short ad between sports games. However, within a few seconds, we can confirm the Fall 2023 release date. The clip also confirms that Peter Parker will team up with Miles Morales as they appear swinging away in procession.
News on Spider-Man 2 has been scant since the 2021 trailer reveal at the PlayStation showcase. About a week ago, Yuri Lowenthal, who plays Peter Parker, confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 development was on course and set for the announced release date.
While the latest teaser confirms Peter and Miles team up, it falls short of depicting the gameplay. As for who the duo will be battling in New York City, the previous teaser hinted at the arrival of Kraven the Hunter, aka Sergei Kravinoff, Venom, and Tony Todd as the sinister symbiote.
Marvel’s Spider-Man premiered in 2018 exclusively for PlayStation 4, featuring characters like Rhino, Mary-Jane Watson, Vulture, Otto Octavius, and more. The game received high praise for its depiction of iconic characters, including Peter Parker, well-designed graphics, and clever gameplay. The game has since been remastered along with the Spider-Man: Miles Morales expansion which introduced Roxxon and Prowler.
There’s not much to glean from the latest teaser, especially concerning gameplay and narrative. It ends with listing PS5 as “in stock now,” which seems like a deliberate hint that the stock shortages are now over. The last part also confirms Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s Spring 2023 release. However, since the teaser was aired in Australia, the release dates fall between September and November as these are Australia’s Spring months.
