Fallout 4: Most Powerful Unique Weapons

0

Fallout 4 gives players dozens of weapons to choose from along with the tools needed to customize them. But while it’s definitely a lot of fun to build up an impressive arsenal virtually from scratch, it can be even more rewarding to tackle the dangers of the wasteland using only unique weapons with special effects.

Fallout 4 features a wide variety of unique weapons, some much better than others. Seeing as how you’ll be facing a lot of powerful enemies in Fallout 4, it pays to collect as many of these unique weapons as possible. You can find some great examples down below to help you get started.

10/10 Overseer’s Guardian

The Overseer’s Guardian is a unique combat rifle that comes with the Two Shot effect, which allows it to shoot an extra projectile every time you pull the trigger. A quick-firing weapon like this benefits greatly from being able to fire two projectiles at once and the best part is that the extra shots don’t eat up any ammo.

You can acquire the Overseer’s Guardian pretty early on in your Fallout 4 playthrough. Simply head over to Vault 81 southeast of Fort Hagen and buy it from Alexis Combes. The merchant claims she isn’t selling any weapons, but that’s probably an oversight by the developers since she does have the Overseer’s Guardian in stock.

9/10 Kiloton Radium Rifle

Just as its name suggests, this is a unique radium rifle with great base stats and a mod that allows it to shoot explosive projectiles that deal 15 points of AoE damage. That’s in addition to the 42 points of ballistic damage AND the 50 points of radiation damage. All in all, we’re talking over 100 points of damage per shot and that’s without any modifications or perks.

The Kiloton radium rifle is another powerful unique weapon you can simply buy from a vendor provided you have enough Caps. However, getting this one is a bit more time-consuming since you’ll first need to join the Children of Atom. Once you’re a member of the cult, go to Brother Kane in The Nucleus and have him sell you the rifle.

8/10 Atom’s Judgment

If you’re going after the Kiloton radium rifle you’ll want to keep an eye out in the area for another unique weapon, Atom’s Judgment. This is a very powerful super sledge that deals a whopping 100 points of radiation damage with every hit in addition to its base damage. Most creatures in the wasteland are immune or resistant to radiation damage, but this super sledge can still make short work of certain types of enemies, especially humans.

Atom’s Judgment is a reward for completing The Heretic quest for The Children of Atom. You can grab the quest from Richter in The Nucleus after you became a full-fledged member of the organization. Just like with the Kiloton radium rifle, you’ll need to own the Far Harbor DLC before you can start doing quests for the Children of Atom in The Nucleus.

7/10 Spray n’ Pray

Spray n’ Pray is a unique submachine gun that does exactly what it says on the tin. The weapon has a high rate of fire, generous clip size, and fires explosive bullets that deal AoE damage just like the Kiloton radium rifle. The submachine gun is arguably a bit better since it fires much faster and doesn’t need to be reloaded as often.

You can buy this bad boy from the merchant Cricket, if you manage to track her down. Cricket is a traveling merchant who roams around the southern part of The Commonwealth more or less at random. Having said that, some of her favorite stops include Vault 81, Diamond City, and Warwick Homestead. She routinely stops to take breaks just outside these three locations so simply cycle between them until you run into her.

6/10 Experiment 18-A

Experiment 18-A is a unique automatic plasma rifle that comes with not one but two special effects thanks to the Rapid mod. The mod allows the weapon to fire 25% faster and reload 15% faster than similar weapons. Damage is split evenly between ballistic and Energy. Make sure to equip it with a recoil-compensating stock because the weapon will be pretty difficult to control otherwise.

You can buy Experiment 18-A from the synth requisition officer in The Institute. The place can be a bit hard to find if you haven’t played Fallout 4 before, but simply follow the main story and you will be directed there eventually. It’s worth noting that the synth requisition officer sells you Experiment 18-A whether you’ve joined The Institute or not.

5/10 Final Judgment

If you like Experiment 18-A’s enhancements but aren’t a big fan of plasma rifles you may want to check out Final Judgment instead. This is a Gatling laser that comes with the same 25% faster fire rate and 15% faster reload rate while also having a much larger clip size. Not to mention the fact that the firing rate is already very impressive even without the special effect.

Final Judgment can be acquired by siding either with The Institute or The Railroad and killing Arthur Maxson, the Brotherhood of Steel’s supreme commander. You’ll get the chance to take out Maxson during the Airship Down, Precipice of War, and Rockets’ Red Glare quest. Once you’ve killed the Brotherhood of Steel boss simply loot Final Judgment off his corpse.

4/10 Ashmaker

Ashmaker is a unique minigun that sets targets on fire and comes with unique orange tracers for good measure. This isn’t exactly one of the most practical weapons in Fallout 4, but it’s definitely one of the most devastating ones. If you want to feel like even more of a badass, make sure you’re wearing some of the best Power Armor like the X-01 while you’re raining fire on your enemies.

Ashmaker can be acquired during the Big Dig, which is arguably one of the most memorable side quests in Fallout 4. You can pick up the quest by speaking to Bobbi No-Nose in Goodneighbor. There are a couple of different ways of completing the quest, all of which will reward you with the Ashmaker.

3/10 Aeternus

Aeternus is another unique gatling laser, however, this one has much higher base damage when compared to similar weapons. In addition, Aeternus also has unlimited ammo. Granted, you’ll rarely going to be in a situation where you need to reload a Gatling laser thanks to their massive clip size. But knowing you’ll never have to recharge Aeternus’ fusion core is still a big selling point of the weapon.

Aeternus drops from the rogue knight during the quest Armoral Combat, which takes place in Nuka-Town’s Nuka-Cade. Needless to say, you’ll need to own the Nuka-World DLC for this one. Upon starting the quest, you’ll first need to defeat a number of other challengers before you’ll get the opportunity to face off against the rogue knight. The final boss is tough cookie so don’t go in unprepared.

2/10 The Last Minute

The Last Minute is a unique gauss rifle with insanely high base damage and an enhancement that allows it to deal 50% more limb damage. This is the perfect weapon for players who like to cripple their foes before putting them out of their misery. The Last Minute is a bit heavier than a typical gauss rifle, but it’s twice as accurate and has a slightly longer range to boot.

The Last Minute is sold by Ronnie Shaw at Fort Independence aka The Castle in South Boston. However, before Ronnie sells you the rifle you’ll first need to complete the quest Old Guns for her. The player will become eligible for the quest three (in-game) days after helping The Minutemen retake The Castle.

1/10 Big Boy

Strictly speaking, Big Boy might not be one of the best unique weapons in Fallout 4, but it’s by far the most powerful one. There’s nothing in the game that even comes close to the destructive power of this unique Fat Man that can fire two nukes at once. Even better, when combined with the MIRV launcher mod, Big Boy launches no less than 12 mini-nukes while only consuming one. That would be enough to raze an entire town if Fallout 4 had destructive environments. Well, it does, but only if you’re willing to delve into the weird and wonderful world of Fallout 4 mods.

What’s even crazier about Big Boy is that you can simply stroll into the Diamond City market and buy it from Arturo Rodriguez at the Commonwealth Weaponry shop. No need to do complete any quests or join any factions beforehand. However, there is a bit of a catch here in that the base cost of Big Boy is an eye-watering 14,000 Caps. You can bring that price down with high Charisma and certain perks, but it’s still going to end up costing you an arm and a leg. The price is well worth it, though, considering Big Boy’s destructive potential.
