In this Elden Ring Morgott’s Curved Sword Build Guide, I’ll be showing you my Mad King build. This is a level 150+ build that can be used at the very end of endgame, as well as for NG+.
Elden Ring Morgott’s Curved Sword Build Guide – Mad King
An Arcane/Faith/Dexterity Build that focuses on the use of Madness and Morgott’s Cursed Sword.

Elden Ring Morgott’s Curved Sword Build – Equipment
This Morgott’s Curved Sword Build is a Madness-focused build. This is sort of an evolution of the Frenzied Acolyte build with kind of a spin to it. We’ve changed one of the spells here, and we added a little bit of bleeding to this build as well. If you weren’t aware of it, bleeding and madness scale off of the Arcane stat depending on what you have equipped. If you’re using Morgott’s Cursed Sword, which is the weapon we’re using with this build, bleed build-up will improve the more Arcane you use. Also, if you’re using the Dragon Communion Seal to cast spells, such as Swarm of Flies, the bleed and Madness build-up will be higher as well because you’re scaling off of Arcane. They kind of tie up together very nicely here.
As I mentioned, the weapon that I’m using for this build is Morgott’s Cursed Sword, as a lot of people have been asking me for a build revolving around this weapon. The damage on it isn’t exceptional, but it has a very unique weapon skill that is absolutely fantastic. Cursed-Blood Slice charges you forward, attacking, which cuts through the air leaving some sort of blood fire trail that then detonates. The explosion deals fire damage, while also triggering the Bloodflame status effect on the enemy. You can follow this up with another L2 that adds another similar attack. What’s great about this is that it has blood loss build-up, so regular attacks and this ability are going to trigger blood loss rapidly. When you combine that with an ability such as Swarm of Flies with a Dragon Communion Seal equipped, it can trigger bleeding easily.
We’re also using the Dragon Communion Seal. As I mentioned, we need Arcane in order to increase the damage of Morgott’s Cursed Sword, and the bleed build-up. This will improve the efficacy of Swarm of Flies and the madness build-up you get from the spells we’ll be using, although we’re not really using the madness build-up from the spells. It’ll help the madness build-up on enemies that can gain madness, and also PvP if you’re into that.
Besides the two equipment we have, I have the Frenzied Flame Seal in my left hand. I haven’t upgraded this at all. You can use this to cast things such as Golden Vow and Flame, Grant Me Strength. It’s also going to boost the damage of our frenzy spells by about 20%, so having it in our offhand when casting those is going to increase our damage.
When it comes to armor for this build, I have the Silver Tear Mask. This gives us a +8 in Arcane. At this point in the game, levels come a lot more slowly so having that +8 is really good. We have a crazy stat spread for this build, so getting anything for attribute relief is a must. This will reduce your physical damage by a little but, but since Morgott’s Cursed Sword scales with Arcane, it’s not going to be as much as it could be.
As for the other armor slots, I’m using the Veteran’s set. It’s not super important which ones you use, but using heavier armor with Poise is going to make it so that you can get off the Cursed-Blood Slice skill more effectively as you tend to get hit while using it on that second L2 hit, depending on which enemy you’re facing. Having a high Poise will be helpful here to also be able to cast your madness spells without getting interrupted.
Elden Ring Morgott’s Curved Sword Build – Talismans
For the talismans we’ll be using for this Morgott’s Curved Sword Build, I have: Fire Scorpion Charm, Ritual Sword Talisman, Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman, and Shard of Alexander. I do swap some of these around depending on the enemy I’m facing.
The reason that Fire Scorpion Charm is very good for this build is because the Cursed-Blood Slice we’re going to be using is fire damage, and the two madness spells also deal fire damage. You’re going to boost the damage of those spells.
Ritual Sword Talisman is great for this build because it’s going to affect all of the damage you will be dealing, from regular attacks to spell damage. When you’re using a build that has different types of damages, it’s not a bad idea to use this talisman. You just have to remember to keep your health at full in order to gain the benefit of using this talisman. Since we do a lot of casting with this build, that’s not typically a problem.
Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman is good for giving you more protection. You already have pretty good protection with this build anyway, but you do have the Fire Scorpion Charm which reduces that by a little bit. This kind of evens that up, which makes you kind of tanky for a hybrid caster type build.
Shard of Alexander is going to boost Cursed-Blood Slice’s damage by about 15%, which is phenomenal. This is the one that I’ll sort of swap around. Sometimes, I’ll switch this out for Flock’s Canvas Talisman if I know I’m going to be casting spells more than using this ability. Don’t be afraid to switch this around depending on what playstyle you’re using at the moment.
Elden Ring Morgott’s Curved Sword Build – Spells
I’ll be using Golden Vow, which increases your damage by 15%. Your weapon skill, regular attacks, and your spells will all be boosted, which makes it perfect for this build. It also increases your defenses, so you’re even tankier.
Flame, Grant Me Strength is great because the damage you deal with Morgott’s Cursed Sword is 100% physical, except when you’re using Cursed-Blood Slice. The trailing explosion from that attack deals fire damage. This spell buffs both fire damage and physical, so this spell is very effictive here. The frenzy spells we’re also using here are buffed by this, which is excellent.
Swarm of Flies is a very situational spell. What I really like about this spell is it’s not super expensive FP-wise. It’ll help you get that bleed build-up on a target where you could use a jump attack or Cursed-Blood Slice. This triggers hemorrhage really fast.
When it comes to the Frenzied Flame Incantations I use for this build, I use Frenzied Burst which is the one I used in the Frenzied Acolyte Build. We’ve swapped out Flame of Frenzy for Unendurable Frenzy.
Frenzied Burst is your super long range sniper ability. This spell goes really far, and it does good single-target damage. You can charge it for even more damage. It even penetrates enemies through their shield, which is absolutely fantastic. You can generally one shot most enemies with this easily, while charging it can one-shot semi-difficult enemies. It has a very high FP cost at 24, although that’s not terrible for what you can do with it.
We’ve swapped out Flame of Frenzy for Unendurable Frenzy. What this spell allows you to do is hold down the casting button, and continuously spew fire as long as you have FP. This thing’s going to keep spewing fire in front of you, and you can walk around while doing so. This allows you to keep the spacing on enemies, particularly if they’re mildly aggressive. You’re not going to be able to keep holding this against very aggressive enemies that are charging at you, but you can walk away from enemies. Since you have really good Poise with this set-up, you can usually tank one hit before you’re going to get interrupted by a second hit.
I like to use Cerulean Hidden Tear with Unendurable Frenzy when I go into a boss fight. It basically gives me infinite FP for 10 seconds, so you can use this until you start going through your FP. It’s going to take a while to drain it, and I don’t have to worry about madness build-up on this myself. You can melt bosses with this set-up if you position yourself correctly.
Elden Ring Morgott’s Curved Sword Build – Gameplay
Generally, the way this Morgott’s Curved Sword Build works is that I’ll pick off individual enemies with jumping R1s and then follow-up on the other enemies. I’ll maybe even pick off more difficult enemies with Frenzied Burst from long-range using charged attacks to try and one shot them when possible. That will usually help wipe out the enemies that are dangerous.
When I get to bosses or difficult enemies, I’ll use Swarm of Flies to trigger bleeding. Some enemies are weak to it, some are bleed resistant, so there could be other ways to tackle it. If they’re bleed resistant, I’ll use Unendurable Frenzy to melt the bosses quickly. If I don’t feel like I can hold Unendurable Frenzy down, I’ll use Cursed-Blood Slice to kill them quickly. Cursed-Blood Slice typically staggers a lot of enemies when you charge into them, so you can get off two L2 presses. Sometimes, there’s a little gap there which you may need to dodge, then press it again, which depends on what the enemy is doing. You can also throw out Swarm of Flies after do you that to trigger hemorrhage, and finish them off that way.
Elden Ring Morgott’s Curved Sword Build – Attributes
For this Morgott’s Curved Sword Build, I have a sort of crazy stat spread. This is what makes it an NG+ build rather than an NG build, although you can use it a little bit at the end of the game. I have: 50 Vigor, 30 Mind, 28 Endurance, 14 Strength, 35 Dexterity, 9 Intelligence, 31 Faith, and 45 Arcane. Out of all the builds I’ve made so far, I don’t think I’ve seen a build that has some investment in seven different stats, making this extremely stat hungry. Having that crazy stat spread, it makes this build more and more effective as you go into NG+, or even NG++, because you have so much room to grow with this build.
50 Vigor is really good for this build. You have lots of protection. Some people would be like “only 50 Vigor?” but you have around 50% or even 60% protection with this build, so that’s not bad at all. You’re going to increase Vigor as you go through NG+ and NG++, probably up to 60 or 65, but I wouldn’t prioritize it at this point.
Mind will be at 30. Honestly, I feel like this should be higher. Golden Vow is expensive, Flame, Grant Me Strength is expensive, and all the other spells we’re going to use in this build are expensive. You’re going to use lots of FP with this build. Getting your mind up to like 35 or 40, to a point where you don’t really have to worry about FP, is what I would be recommending.
Endurance is at 28 in order to allow us to medium roll with our high protection and high Poise armor. Depending on what armor you’re using, this will either be higher or lower. Stamina isn’t really an issue for this build, so you don’t need that much Endurance. You might want to increase this going into NG+ or NG++. You’re not really getting interrupted out of your spells anyway, so you could probably reduce this to eliminate some of the heavy stat spread problems we have.
Strength is at 14 as it is required for Morgott’s Cursed Sword.
35 Dexterity is also there for the requirement, but I love having higher Dexterity for this build. The weapon scales very high from Dexterity. As you go into NG+ and NG++, you’re going to keep increasing Dexterity at some point to get more damage out of your regular attacks and Cursed-Blood Slice. What’s amazing with this build is that you’re already effective with only 35 Dexterity, so you’re going to still increase your damage when you go way up to around 80 Dexterity. This gives you a high ceiling with your melee weapon.
We need 31 Faith in order to meet the requirements for using Unendurable Frenzy. If you’re not using Unendurable Frenzy and decide to use Flame of Frenzy better, which some people do, you can drop this down a bit. This will also increase your incantation damage as Dragon Communion Seal scales with Arcane and Faith, so we do get some benefit out of it. Also, having at least 25 Faith allows us to use Golden Vow, which is a very good buff for this build.
Lastly, I have 45 Arcane as this is the sweet spot for Dragon Communion Seal, in terms of its incantation scaling. It also increases the damage of Morgott’s Cursed Sword, although not as good as Dexterity. It also improves blood loss build-up. I prioritized it over Dexterity for the weapon because you get more out of it. If you were just making a build solely focused on Morgott’s Cursed Sword, you would probably not level up Arcane this high. As far as Arcane goes, you want to increase this up to 50 at some point in NG+. This will be its soft cap.
Stat Spread Roadmap: Once you have Vigor where you want it to be, you’re then going to want Mind to be at around 40, then Arcane at 50. After that, you’re going to want to increase Dexterity to 80. Once your Dexterity reaches 80, you can start prioritizing Faith and Strength, depending on your playstyle.
Elden Ring Morgott’s Curved Sword Build – Final Thoughts
If you’re using the Flask of Wondrous Physick, you’re going to want to use Flame-Shrouding Cracked Tear to increase your fire damage. This is going to increase the damage of your spells, especially Cursed-Blood Slice.
You also want to use Cerulean Hidden Tear on the flask, as you want to be able to hold down Unendurable Frenzy without losing that much FP. This will deal a ton of damage at the beginning of boss fights.
When it comes to Great Runes you want to use, you should be using Godrick’s Great Rune. This’ll give you a +5 in every attribute you use, which is what we need for the crazy stat spread we have. You could adjust your attributes with this, in order to put more points towards Arcane or Dexterity.
