In this Elden Ring Golem’s Halberd Guide, I’ll be showing you my Guardian Golem build. This is a build that can be used pretty much all throughout your first playthrough and in NG+. If you’re looking for a build you can play from the very beginning and continue on to NG+ without having to respec, Guardian Golem is the build that you’re looking for.

Elden Ring Golem’s Halberd Build Guide – Guardian Golem

A Strength build that focuses on the use of the Golem’s Halberd for devastating damage.

We have over 110 Elden Ring Builds now, for all classes and playstyles. This Build is recommended for all levels.

Elden Ring Golem’s Halberd Build – Equipment and Gameplay

The weapon we’re using for this Elden Ring Golem’s Halberd build is the Golem’s Halberd. This is the namesake of the build, as Guardian Golems wield this weapon. The earliest one I think you can find besides the ones that’s at half health are the ones in Stormveil Castle. If you need to farm for it, that’s where you would do that.

Golem’s Halberd

Golem’s Halberd is one of my absolute favorite weapons in this game. It has incredible attack rating, very good reach, a fantastic moveset, and it looks awesome. It is an all-around phenomenal weapon. At 80 Strength, two-handed, unbuffed, we’re sitting at 878 damage which is absolutely insane. If you are buffed with Exalted Flesh, Flame, Grant Me Strength, Golden Vow, and a Ritual Sword Talisman, you would probably be somewhere around 1300-1400 attack rating. I don’t have these in the build, as 878 damage is a lot of attack power.

One of the downsides of this Golem’s Halberd build is that you can’t buff your weapon with Grease or anything like that because when you use Royal Knight’s Resolve, it’s going to override it. If you’re using a different Ash of War, I would definitely recommend using those to increase your damage even more. What I really like about Royal Knight’s Resolve is if you walk up to a boss or a tough to kill enemy and you do a charged R2 attack, you hit for around 3000-4000 damage most of the time, which is a lot of damage. Your R2 deals so much stagger damage at the same time, so if you attack with another R2, you can usually stagger anything, even bosses. This allows you to go in for a critical attack, or to buff with Royal Knight’s Resolve again and get off another charged R2 attack for devastating damage.

Another thing I like about Royal Knight’s Resolve is that it’s not super expensive to use. You don’t need it all the time with this build. It’s also not boosted by Shard of Alexander and Warrior Jar Shard so you can free up those slots for something else. For most of the builds, you’ll be using those slots for Shard of Alexander or Warrior Jar Shard.

When it comes to armor, I have the Leyndell Knight Helm for my headgear, and Malformed Dragon pieces for the rest. I really like the way this works together. I like the Leyndell Knight Helm’s look compared to the Malformed Dragon Helm, but you could use that if you really want. You’re just aiming for 51 Poise here, so you can use whatever armor you want. I just happen to like the style of this armor set, and it has enough Poise. Our armor also has pretty good protection, but you can really use anything you like. You just need to make sure that you can do a medium roll with your armor. You could wear heavier armor for more protection so you could trade blows with this build. As you start out with this build, you could use a lighter armor set. Then, as you progress through the game, you’ll want to work on using heavier armor at some point.

A really good armor set you can get that has 51 Poise early on is the Knight Set. You can buy this in Roundtable Hold as soon as you get there, and it’s got decent protection. I recommend getting that early, then upgrading your armor to heavier pieces as your Endurance goes up.

Elden Ring Golem’s Halberd Build – Talismans

When it comes to talismans for this build, I have two that I always use and there’s two flex spots. The first talisman that I use is the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman. You trade damage with this build constantly, so you want to reduce the amount of physical damage you take, so you’ll always be using this one. Second is the Axe Talisman because you’re using your charged R2 attack a lot with this build, after you buff with Royal Knight’s Resolve to kill difficult enemies and bosses. You’re going to get extra damage out of the Axe Talisman, which is fantastic.

Now, let’s start with the flex talismans. I like to keep one of them with the Curved Sword Talisman. This will give you an increased block counter damage. One of the great things about Golem’s Halberd that I didn’t mention is that it has a very high Guard Boost at 60 when it’s maxed out. That’s equivalent to a bad Greatshield or a good Medium Shield, so you can use this to block counter. So if you’re doing block counters, Curved Sword Talisman is a good talisman to use. If you find yourself not using block counters, you can swap it out for something else.

Curved Sword Talisman

Another talisman I like to use is Taker’s Cameo. With this build, you’ll always trade damage and take chip damage through your blocks. This talisman will help keep your health topped up as you fight. You already have good damage with this build, so there’s not a lot of damage increase for this build. You’ll find that this talisman is great for replenishing your health while you’re running around the landscape. It’s not good for boss fights, but it’ll make your life easier when you’re running around.

Taker’s Cameo

Next up is the Claw Talisman. This talisman is good for jump attacks. If you find that you’re doing a lot of jump attacks, you can slot this in. I find that during a lot of boss fights, I tend to throw in a jump attack here and there depending on the enemy I’m facing.

Claw Talisman

Another good talisman to use here is the Ritual Sword Talisman. You do trade damage with this build, so you don’t tend to stay at full health at all times. However, if you’re using Taker’s Cameo to replenish your health while running through the landscape, this will help give extra damage. A lot of times, you’ll be one-shotting enemies, and having the Ritual Sword Talisman will guarantee that. You can even run into a boss fight with max health and benefit from the boost that this talisman gives for a few attacks. Sometimes, that extra damage can make a difference.

Elden Ring Golem’s Halberd Build – Attributes

When it comes to the attributes for this Elden Ring Golem’s Halberd build, I have: 55 Vigor, 25 Mind, 38 Endurance, 80 Strength, 14 Dexterity, 16 Intelligence, 7 Faith, and 9 Arcane. You don’t need any Intelligence, Faith, or Arcane. Disregard these attributes I have as I started as an Astrologer. 14 Dexterity is there to meet the requirements for Golem’s Halberd.

Strength is at 80 here because the damage from scaling starts to fall off significantly after 80. You get a lot of damage out of this weapon between 50-80 Strength, especially if you’re two-handing. It’s very good to take it all the way up to 80.

Early on in the game, your priority is probably going to be Endurance in order to use the Golem’s Halberd and to use heavy armor while still being able to do a medium roll. You’re not going to increase Strength immediately at the beginning, so you should only increase it to 24 Strength to be able to use the halberd two-handed. After 24 Strength, you should then go for Endurance and Vigor to be able to trade damage and use heavier armor.

When it comes to Endurance, this will vary depending on which armor you’ll be using. Golem’s Halberd is extremely heavy, so you’re going to need some Endurance in order to be able to use a decent armor set with good Poise. If you’re not using Golem’s Halberd, your Endurance will be somewhere around 38 Endurance, but you could increase it for better armor which you’ll probably need throughout NG+.

For Mind, I have 25 here as this is more than enough for this Golem’s Halberd build. Royal Knight’s Resolve isn’t super expensive and you don’t use it all the time, so you could probably drop Mind to around 20. You don’t use this except for really tough enemies or in boss fights. If you’re playing this build early, I wouldn’t recommend increasing Mind too high.

It’s going to be a while before you get Royal Knight’s Resolve, so you’ll be using a different Ash of War before you get that one. Determination isn’t that far into the game, as you can get this in Limgrave. If you’re looking for a replacement, you can use this before switching to Royal Knight’s Resolve later.

When it comes to Vigor, you really can’t have enough Vigor for this build. You’ll probably peak at around 60 or so Vigor. You have 55 here, which is plenty for what we’re trying to do. You could probably drop this down to 50, then increase it later on. Vigor is really good for this build because you trade damage and tank through hits, while dealing more damage to the enemy.

Elden Ring Golem’s Halberd Build – Final Tips

When it comes to the Flask of Wondrous Physick, I like using Spiked Cracked Tear which I use for boss fights. It lasts for three minutes, so you could use it between checkpoints as well. You could also use Strength-knot Crystal Tear early on in the game if you want to get more damage. Another one is Stonebarb Cracked Tear, which increases your Poise damage you do. This is good for staggering bosses quickly into the fight with your charged R2 attacks. This will let you finish off bosses quickly. Greenburst Crystal Tear is a good option as it’ll give you increased stamina recovery. You will chew through stamina with this build, so this can be used effectively.

When it comes to Great Runes, Godrick’s Great Rune is particularly good in your first playthrough. This Golem’s Halberd build is very stat-hungry, even if you get all the equipment early on. Godrick’s Great Rune will help you with the crazy stat spread, as you’ll probably need to be level 70 before you can use this build without it. This’ll help alleviate like 20-25 levels of stats, which makes this build playable early on.
