Balvinder Sopal, who plays Suki Panesar on EastEnders, has shared a rare picture with her social media followers making a cheeky dig at BBC co-star Ashley Byam.

Balvinder shared a snap with Ashley, who left Albert Square this week after his character Finlay Baker was threatened by the Panesar family.

In a picture of the pair together, Balvinder said: “Gorgeous human. gorgeous actor @Ashleybyam. Was wonderful to play and share the screen with you.”

She couldn’t resist making a dig at the star as she mocked their storyline together where Finaly told Suki to give him money before his soap exit.

Suki reluctantly gave the character £4,000, leading Balvinder to teasingly write: “Don’t spend your £4k all at one.”

Finlay made enemies with the Panesars following Vinny Panesar’s (Shiv Jalota) failed revenge plan on Eve Unwin (Heather Peace).

Vinny had tampered with the brakes on Finlay’s car, knowing Eve was going to drive it to Brighton.

Suki intervened but Finlay was understandably shaken up after learning about the incident, and he wondered why Vinny would want to harm him in the first place.

He later realised Eve was the real target of the attack and he used the situation to his advantage in his final scenes by demanding money from Suki in exchange for leaving Walford.

EastEnders fans took to Twitter to comment on Finlay’s exit from the soap after a year on screens.

Mike wrote: “What a waste of talent. Why didn’t he get more scenes? this week has proven he could have dealt with a massive storyline.”

Lauren said: “He’s already missed. As a viewer, if I had the choice between Finlay and that snivelling, wannabee gangster Vinny, I know who I’d rather was gone. Such a shame.”

Isaac Sylvester penned: “Quite surprised to see Finn’s exit after only a short time on #Eastenders. Pity really that Ashley’s character wasn’t involved in any big storylines and not a huge amount of screen time overall.”

Jev Bensen wrote: “Poor guy. You didn’t test him with any decent stories. Hope we get to see him soon in something ace.”

Lisa remarked: “I have a feeling he will be back. Certainly don’t think he will let Vinny off that easily. I feel Keanu knows something isn’t right and he will dig into it.”

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One at 7.30pm.
