Gotham Knights follows four heroes, Robin, Red Hood, Batgirl, and Nightwing. They have to take over the protection of Gotham following the death of Batman after an intense fight with Raz Al’Ghul in the Batcave. It is then up to you to fight crime and investigate to get to the bottom of Batman’s case file from before his death.
In Gotham Knights, you can swap and change between each hero, allowing you to get a feel for their unique abilities. This makes it easier to find a character that best suits your play style. When you switch between characters your level will remain the same and any Ability points you have with one hero will be available on the others. Each hero has its own traversal ability for you to unlock, this guide will outline each one and what it does.
How To Unlock The Traversal Ability
Each hero has a skill tree called Knighthood, and this skill tree is the only one locked out of all four skill trees available. To unlock the Knighthood tree and get the traversal ability unlocked you will have three challenges to complete. These challenges are the same across all heroes. The first one is to complete the Timed Strike Training, you can do this by approaching the training area in the Belfry and picking that module. The next challenge is to stop ten premeditated crimes, these are the red crimes marked on the map, you can unlock more crimes by interrogating different enemies committing minor crimes around the city.
Finally, you will need to defeat three mini-bosses. These are the stronger enemies you can fight, like the big shielded enemies or the tall strong women, depending on the gangs you are fighting. Once you complete all these challenges you can then go to the Belfry and interact with the wall of Batman’s things which will be marked on your HUD. That then unlocks your traversal ability for the character you are playing as.
Nightwings Flying Trapeze
For Nightwing you will unlock the Flying Trapeze, which is a rocket-propelled glider that you can use to traverse the map. The Trapeze can be used when jumping from high places and buildings. You can activate it with your long-range firing ability. The glider will then deploy, and you can glide for long distances across the map. You can also push forward to dive and then pull back up to gain height to help you travel further. This, used alongside your grapple, will allow you to get around the map easier and quicker too. When gliding over enemies you can go into an aerial attack on them from the glider as well.
Red Hood’s Mystical Leap
Red Hoods Traversal Ability is the Mystical Leap. This is Red Hood calling on mystical abilities given to him when he was brought back to life in the Lazarus Pit. With the Mystical Leap, you can jump off of high places and perform the leap, and again if on controller this would be holding R2 or whatever you have bound for that input. It causes a mystical energy layer which Red Hood then leaps off of, you can change direction and chain leaps to travel further, you can then land on enemies or chain it with your grapple to gain more height.
Batgirl’s Glide
For Batgirl you will unlock a Glide ability, much like Nightwing’s Trapeze but for Batgirl it is a cape similar to what Batman would have used. With this ability, you can glide when jumping from a height and you can also perform a nosedive. This causes Batgirl to dive toward the ground, then you can pull up with the glide to gain more height and travel further on the glider by chaining this. Like all the other traversal unlocks you can use this to descend on enemies and do an aerial attack.
Robins Slideways Ability
For Robin, he has a slightly different traversal ability, his is teleporting. He can only teleport short distances, but this can be used to teleport from rooftop to rooftop and traverse the city quickly. You are able to select where you teleport to allowing you to teleport behind unsuspecting enemies and perform takedowns on them. To teleport you hold down the traversal button and then choose a nearby place to teleport to, bear in mind you only have a limited time to choose your teleport area.
