Following the release of Dragon Ball Super Chapter 87, the manga entered an indefinite hiatus, with no news of its return until now. Finally, after a long wait, Chapter 88 of Dragon Ball Super is set to return next month.
For international fans, the new chapter will be released on December 20th 2022 via the official website of Viz Media and Manga Plus. All of the exact release times for the new chapter can be found below:

Alongside the new release date, details regaring the new arc’s main characters, as well as a brief synopsis, have also been revealed.
The news was first shared by some trusted leakers on Twitter, including Anime News And Facts, and Shonen Jump News Unofficial. Now, thanks to an official magazine advert, it appears that the rumors were in fact true, and Dragon Ball Super will be returning with Chapter 88 on December 20th.
A poster for the new chapter was also revealed, which gives fans a snippet of details surrounding the upcoming arc. It reveals Trunks and Goten on the front, with the text above reading, “The new arc finally begins. Could those two be superheroes?” At the bottom, we can see Gohan and Piccolo, and Goku on their right side. The upcoming arc will keep its major focus on Goten and Trunks, while we will see a lot from Gohan and Piccolo as well. This arc will be a prequel to Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie, so we will be witnessing the story before the fight between Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 and Piccolo and Gohan begins.
While fans will be waiting for a few more weeks to see our young heroes on their new adventures, Freiza’s new Black Form that we witnessed in the last chapter of the Granolah The Survivor arc will be keeping the fans on edge. We can expect Freiza’s new powerful and evil form as one of the major focus in the upcoming chapters.
