There is a grand multitude of characters within the Dragon Ball universe, and each one of them has fought plenty of different battles. These battles could vary for many reasons, from defending the universe to simply battling it out in a martial arts tournament.
One such character that has seen the spotlight since Dragon Ball’s anime debut is the fan-favorite Piccolo. Piccolo started out as a villain in the franchise but has since grown into one of the best heroes as part of the Z Fighters in Dragon Ball. Now, Piccolo is one of the strongest fighters in Universe 7, having even gained a brand-new transformation that may rival Goku!
10 Fighting Goku
Late into the Dragon Ball anime, Piccolo was actually the main antagonist as he sought to overcome Earth and its fighters. Goku, being the little protective combatant that he was, stood up against the Demon King and actually defeated him with an incredible headbutt.
Once Piccolo was back, though, the two fought against one another in a martial arts world tournament. The battle lasted a long time, and the two put on an amazing and flashy show that could rival Dragon Ball Super battles.
9 Battling Android 17
The androids were some of the most feared villains back in Dragon Ball Z ever since Future Trunks time-traveled to warn the Z Fighters of the inevitable threat of the androids. Once the androids were loose though, there was almost no hope as they quickly dealt with the most powerful warriors like Vegeta.
In order to stop Cell from reaching his full potential, Piccolo had to stop Android 17. This led to a fight between the two that was one of Piccolo’s best, as it was possible that Piccolo was better than the Android during this fight.
8 Almost Beating Cell
Other than the innocent humans that resided on Earth, Piccolo was the first character to come face to face with the powerful villain Cell. Cell was only in his first form during this confrontation, but the villain was still incredibly menacing. Piccolo took it upon himself to fight the android, and the two put up a great fight.
Piccolo came close to defeating Cell, meaning the Z fighter was about to stop the Cell games from happening. Unfortunately, though, Cell was able to get away.
7 Dr. Gero/Android 20
Before Androids 17 and 18 were leading an attack against Earth and Goku, there were Androids 19 and 20. These two met the Z Fighters with heavy resistance, as one even came close to killing Yamcha. Android 20, or Dr. Gero, saw how Vegeta took out Android 19 fairly quickly, so he sought to escape.
Unfortunately for Gero, Piccolo went up against him and forced the android into a fight. This fight didn’t last very long at all, but it definitely showed how much stronger Piccolo had become.
6 Destroying Babidi
The Majin Buu Saga in Dragon Ball Z is one of the most popular and well-known sagas of the entire franchise. This introduced one of the strongest villains known as Majin Buu. What many fans may not know or remember is that there actually was a villain behind Buu, who was the reason behind the entire saga!
This was Babidi, formerly known as Buu’s “master.” Piccolo found Babidi alone and was so angry at the villain that he took it upon himself to take him out — Piccolo destroyed Babidi with incredible ease.
5 The Fight Against The Saiyans
After Raditz “warned” Earth and its inhabitants of the approaching threat of two Saiyans arriving on the planet to take it over, the Z Fighters started to train harder than they ever have before. This was the start of Piccolo’s reemergence into Dragon Ball as he took Goku’s son Gohan to train with him.
Piccolo grew a bond with the child and, at the same time, grew his strength and fighting skills. When it came time to fight, Piccolo had to fight against Nappa, who was too strong for him. Though Piccolo went down, the fight with Nappa will be forever remembered.
4 Frieza Was Horrifying
Piccolo was taken to Planet Namek after a wish revived him on the planet. This was so the Namekian could not only see his home planet but also assist with taking on Frieza, as Gohan stood at risk against the tyrant. In the first scenes of this fight, Frieza was already in his second form.
Piccolo struggled against the villain but eventually landed some heavy blows to Frieza. The Z Fighter was even smiling at one point while dominating Frieza on the ground! Though he didn’t win, it was a valiant effort.
3 Taking Out Raditz
Dragon Ball Z’s very first enemy interaction was the introduction of Raditz. Raditz came to Earth after seeking out his brother, who turned out to be Goku. After Goku refused to side with him and the Saiyans, Raditz prepared to fight against him. Piccolo assisted Goku in fighting against his brother, who turned out amazingly strong.
Even though Goku and Piccolo were the strongest fighters at the moment, they stood no chance against Raditz. In a last-ditch effort, Goku had to hold Raditz as Piccolo used his Special Beam Cannon to obliterate the villainous Saiyan.
2 The Threat Of Cell Max
Dragon Ball Super finally produced movies that proved to be canonical in the Dragon Ball universe, which the Dragon Ball Z movies have infamously not done — among these movies is Dragon Ball Super Super Hero. This movie featured Gohan and Piccolo as the movie’s main protagonists, in which Piccolo had the majority of screen time!
The main antagonists of the film were the Red Ribbon Army and Cell Max, who were too strong for the fighters. Piccolo had to gain a new transformation to fight against Cell, and his efforts were part of the reason that Gohan was able to defeat Cell Max.
1 Universe 6’s Namekians
The Tournament of Power withheld some of the most amazing and visibly pleasing fights from the entire anime! Luckily, Piccolo was among the fighters that participated in this tournament, and the Namekian even had some incredible battles of his own!
Among these battles was the fight with two other Namekians from a different universe. They proved incredibly strong, but with Gohan at Piccolo’s side, Universe 7 was able to defeat the other Namekians. Piccolo even got in a sharp Special Beam Cannon for the win!
