Dragon Ball FighterZ Steam Rollback Beta Test Announced

Bandai Namco will be holding a public beta test focusing on the implementation of the rollback netcode for Dragon Ball FighterZ on Steam. This beta will run from November 30, 2023 to December 11, 2023.

All users who purchased the Steam version of the game are invited to participate in the public beta test for the Rollback Netcode. Owners of Dragon Ball FighterZ can open the “Properties” tab on the game then select the “Beta” tab in order to select the public beta test version of the game. The beta will automatically download once the it has been selected.

More information and instructions on how to access the public beta test for Dragon Ball FighterZ can be found on Steam’s website. The Steam page for it indicates that no individual support will be provided for any in-game issues that occur during the public beta test. Users also will also not be able to carry any data from the beta into full retail version of the game, and data from the full retail version of the game will not be carried over to the test. Once the beta has concluded, Bandai Namco advises that players remember to switch back to the correct version of the game to ensure that it will run smoothly.

In the announcement trailer for the rollback netcode beta, Dragon Ball FighterZ Producer Tomoko Hiroki discussed how the team wants to continue to make the game an enjoyable experience for every player and welcomed all Steam owners to join the beta. She also gave her apologies for the delay in releasing the beta for the rollback netcode. The test had previously been announced to be coming in Spring 2023.

Rollback netcode is a function in games that assists to make the online multiplayer experience smoother by predicting the next input by a player to prevent lag due to varying internet connections. If that input is incorrect, the game will self-correct near instantly and maintain consistent gameplay between each player.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is available on the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions are currently in development.
