It will also bring in Olaf from Frozen, and some significant quality of life changes.
Disney Dreamlight Valley has been teasing its next major update for the last couple of weeks, and the developers have just given their fanbase a pleasant surprise, now confirming that the update will drop as soon as tomorrow, February 6.
They had previously stated that it would release “in the next few weeks,” which many fans assumed to mean the tail end of February. If not, most speculated mid-February at the earliest, so the developers, in the first week of February, suddenly revealing that the release date is tomorrow, has been a big shock for the majority of the Disney Dreamlight fanbase.
As previously revealed, the update will bring in Mirabel Madrigal from the Academy Award-winning film, Encanto. Speaking with Polygon, the game’s producer, Manea Castet, stated that Mirabel is “more of an onboarding character,” and that, if you’re starting the game from the beginning, you don’t have to play a lot of hours to meet her.
He also confirmed that there will be a version of the Madrigal Casita in Disney Dreamlight Valley, the magical house from the movie that can understand what the family says and move its doors and floorboards to help them out. Though fans shouldn’t expect something as sprawling as what’s seen in the movie, for Castet called it “mini Casita.”
The update will, as per usual, bring a new Star Path (a battle pass-like progression system), which will have item rewards based on Disney’s 100th anniversary that’s to happen late this year. The update will also bring Olaf, the snowman from Frozen, as an interactable character, but perhaps most relevant of all is that it will make significant changes to item sorting. Castet confirmed that there will be an “improved storage system,” where chests will now have different designs, and they’ll also have panels pop up as you approach them, so you can see what’s inside without having to open them.
The roadmap also confirmed an April update that will bring in Simba and a Lion King realm, and there will also be an Early Summer update, which will add “a huge step forward with the main story.” There will be further updates throughout the second half of 2023, Castet revealing that one of these will include the addition of Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
