Deadpool 3 Is Going To Save The Marvel Cinematic Universe, X-Men: First Class Director Says

X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn has begun hyping up Deadpool 3, claiming the next film starring the popular motor-mouthed mercenary will be just the “jolt” that the Marvel Cinematic Universe needs.

“The few snippets that I know about Deadpool vs. Wolverine–or Wolverine vs. Deadpool, I’m sure that argument between Ryan and Hugh is happening as we speak–are unbelievable,” Vaughn said to the BroBible’s Post Credit Podcast while promoting his new film Argyle. “That’s going to be the jolt. The Marvel universe is about to have a jolt of them and it’s going to bring that body back to life. I think Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are about to save the whole Marvel universe. I’m a genuine fan of the X-Men, all I want is for the movies to be as good as they should be.”

Since the end of the Infinity Saga in Avengers: Endgame, the MCU has gone through a turbulent time. Several films have underperformed–including The Marvels being the lowest-grossing MCU film of all time–and there has been trouble behind the scenes.

Disney recently parted ways with Jonathan Majors, who played Kang the Conquerer in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, after he was found guilty of assault and harassment last year. Majors’ character of Kang was set up to be the next big villain in the MCU, but an alternate plan has reportedly been circling for months since his arrest.

Meanwhile, filming on Deadpool 3 wrapped and star Ryan Reynolds celebrated the occasion with a cheeky Instagram post. The film will finally team the fan-favorite character up with Wolverine–played once again by Hugh Jackman–and is scheduled to hit theaters on July 26.
