Coronation Street actress Tina O’Brien, who plays Sarah Platt, has opened up about getting whiplash after performing a stunt alongside co-star Todd Boyce, who played Stephen Reid.

Last week, Stephen was finally found out about the murder he had committed, the money he had stolen from Audrey Roberts (played by Sue Nicholls), and spiking Carla Connor (Alison King) with LSD.

Before he was mowed down by Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne), Stephen held Sarah and Jenny Connor (Sally-Ann Matthews) hostage in the Rovers Return.

Sarah and Jenny realised they weren’t alone in the pub and began to panic about Stephen being there.

However, as the pair began to flee, Stephen hit Sarah over the head with a wine bottle which left her unconscious on the floor and her head bleeding.

Actress Tina O’Brien opened up about filming the stunt and admitted that she thought she got whiplash from having to do the takes so many times.

Speaking to Express.co.uk and other press on whether she enjoyed the stunt elements of the scenes, Tina explained: “I hardly had any compared to Sally-Ann.

“But the bit I did have, I mean it is great being clocked around the head, however, it made me question doing something like that as a job all the time.

“I literally gave myself whiplash, I could not move the next day because we must have done it about 15 times, just to make sure we got the shot.

“Honest to God the next day I thought, ‘Well this is not for me’, it was very very physical and yeah we had some really long days.”

Stephen’s reign of terror may be over but he has left a barrage of devastation in his wake, especially with the future of Underworld.

During his week of trying to escape, Stephen fooled Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell) into giving him his pin number to the account and stole £250,000.

In scenes that are set to air tonight, Sarah has to break the news to Michael that he has lost his job at Underworld, leaving him devastated.

Carla is also soon set to fly to Spain to try and secure a new deal to save Underworld and the employee’s jobs, but will it be enough?

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
