Stephen Reid (played by Todd Boyce) will feel the heat next week when Rufus’ (Steve Meo) wife Lou arrives on Coronation Street and shares her concern about his death.

The coroner will rule his death was caused by misadventure however Lou won’t believe it and instead will tell Stephen she thinks Rufus was murdered.

But Lou isn’t the only one who is suspicious as Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) also believes Stephen is up to no good, particularly since he drew up fake life insurance documents for his mum Elaine (Paula Wilcox).

Meanwhile, when Teddy Thompkins (Grant Burgin) began to suspect Stephen was responsible for his son Leo’s (Joe Frost) disappearance, he was murdered.

Leo had realised Stephen was in financial trouble and confronted the con man before a scuffle broke out.

Stephen ended up throwing Leo off the gantry at Underworld, killing him.

Now, actor Todd has teased Stephen will get his comeuppance soon as he continues to commit murder in order to get his hands on more money.

Todd explained: “I share a dressing room with Dan Brocklebank [who plays Billy Mayhew], who is just so much fun and so wonderful.

“He tells me that everyone who’s sat in my chair, their character has died.

“So it’s a bit of a haunted chair. Dan has been in the show for 10 years, so that’s a bit scary!”

In upcoming scenes, Stephen will panic the game is up when Lou presents a tie pin which was found at the scene of Rufus’ murder.

As Stephen begins to spiral, will Lou realise he was there when Rufus died?

Todd told Digital Spy: “He’s absolutely hating himself for wearing that pin.

“He’s kicking himself. It feels as though the walls are closing in now, and he’s thinking, ‘Oh, God, no!'”

He added Stephen believed he wouldn’t have to kill again but if Lou gets suspicious, maybe he will.

“He’s in denial,” Todd warned, hinting he could add another victim to the list before he is killed himself.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV at 8pm.
