Coronation Street fans are set to see Ryan Connor’s (played by Ryan Prescott) methods of handling his scars take a turn for the worse in upcoming scenes.

Earlier this year, the barman was the victim of an acid attack after he jumped in the way to protect Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan).

Since then, fans of the ITV soap saw Ryan find it hard to adapt to his new appearance as he constantly looked at photographs from before the incident.

Although he decided to take a break from the cobbles to spend time with his mum Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh), Ryan’s set to return to Weatherfield soon.

Official spoilers for Coronation Street reveal next week he comes home and tells his aunt Carla Connor (Alison King) there’s some exercise equipment being delivered.

Trying to lift his spirits, Carla suggests he create motivational videos online for people, although he remains adamant nobody would want to see his face with his scars.

Following their tricky relationship before his departure, after Ryan found out Daisy had been catfishing him, she attempts to speak to him when she finds out he’s come home.

However, her efforts fall flat when he gives her the short shrift, leaving her hurt that their friendship seems to be over.

Later on, Ryan opens a parcel which is addressed to a fake name and takes out some illegal steroids, injecting himself with it.

Will somebody realise what Ryan’s up to before his addiction spirals out of control? Or is there danger ahead for Ryan as he can’t get past his scars?

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk and other media publications, actor Ryan Prescott touched on the long-term implications the attack will have on his character.

He said: “It’s going to change his life forever because it changes the way he interacts with the world.

“The respiration period and the recovery period are so long if not life-long.

“It’s psychotherapy and physiotherapy for many years, if not the rest of your life. PTS, trauma therapy and learning simple things.

“I think that despite the massive shift that the incident causes, he is determined to not let the experience defy who he is.

“I think he somehow wants to find his way back to that infectious spirit that he once had, but it’s a long road.”

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm.
