Amy (played by Elle Mulvany) has been struggling to cope after she was raped by Aaron (James Craven) and hasn’t told anyone about her ordeal. Coronation Street spoilers reveal that Amy is set to be humiliated by her mother Tracy (Kate Ford) whom she confides in this week, leaving Amy no choice but to retract the statement she made against Aaron.

In upcoming scenes, Amy is worried when she finds out Tracy has put flyers up around Weatherfield about Aaron.

Trying to reassure her daughter, she explains to Amy no one will know it was her putting up the flyers.

Mary later finds a flyer on the florist’s printer and shows what she found to Abi Franklin (Sally Carman), leaving her to realise what had happened and confronts Aaron.

Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) stops at No.1 and tells Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) and Tracy about the flyer on the printer in the flower shop, which devastates Amy as people have worked out what had happened to her.

Furious she hasn’t heard anything back about her daughter’s case, Tracy calls in at the police station and glues herself to the desk.

She explains to the sergeant that she is refusing to move until they start to take Amy’s rape allegation seriously.

Steve and Amy later arrive at the police station where they find Tracy about to give an interview to Suki, the reporter from the Gazette, but Amy begs her mum not to go ahead.

Elsewhere, Abi tells Aaron she heard from others around the cobbles that Amy has changed her story about what happened that night between them.

Bumping into Aaron in the street, Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain) verbally attacks him for raping Amy but is soon told she has changed her story.

Summer and Aadi are confused when they hear Amy change her story and pay her a visit, but it is clear neither are convinced by her u-turn.

Trying to fix their friendship, Amy and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) spend some time together but when an image of Aadi and Aaron comes through, Summer clocks Amy’s discomfort but doesn’t push for an explanation.

Later, Tracy suggests a film night with a curry on the sofa, leaving Amy to call at the Speed Daal for their takeaway, but after spotting Aaron at the counter, she turns and flees the restaurant.

Actress Elle recently opened up about the communication she and James had before they filmed the rape scenes.

She told OK! magazine: “He spoke to me beforehand, we checked boundaries with each other and he made sure I was comfortable every step of the way.

“Afterwards he messaged me to make sure I was OK. We had to get on a level where we were both exactly sure what was going to happen.

“Most people are on board with the story and saying, ‘Wow, what a brilliant part he’s playing,’ because this character could not be further removed from James. He’s genuinely one of the most lovely people ever.

“I’m always gonna have his back, he’s always got mine. Having something like this happen to a feisty character, who is headstrong, just shows that this can happen to anybody.

“Amy’s very confident so for something like this to happen to her of all people is a really interesting take on it.

“There’s often a misconception with rape victims that they are weak people who’ve been preyed on. It isn’t the victim’s fault, it is the rapist’s fault.

“Now, I think it’s really interesting to watch Amy go on this journey as she navigates through all the emotions that she’s having.”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
