CD Projekt Red Shuts Down Fresh Rumors Of A Cyberpunk 2077 Metro System

CD Projekt Red have once again been forced to deny rumors of a metro system coming to Cyberpunk 2077, this time due to a mistranslated interview.

Earlier this week, a Reddit post, which has now been removed by the subreddit’s moderators, suggested that a developer had said Cyberpunk 2077 would receive a metro system in a future patch. The post did state that the information was translated from Czech, so required some form of confirmation.

Sadly, we now have official confirmation that this information isn’t correct. Taking to Twitter, Marcin Momot, the Global Community Director for CD Projekt Red, said, “A word of clarification on this topic as many people have been tagging me since yesterday. Nothing has changed regarding the metro system in Cyberpunk 2077 – we do not plan on adding it in the future.”

We’re sure that CD Projekt Red is getting sick of denying these rumors, considering it’s not the first time it’s had to do so. Marcin himself has already denied the rumors once before, tweeting early last year that there were no plans to add a metro system to the game.

If you’re out of the loop, Cyberpunk 2077 fans have been begging for a metro system to be added to the game after a PC mod went viral last year. The fan-made system now has over 268,000 downloads but is only available for PC users. The mod adds “a fully useable Metro System, with 19 explorable stations, third / first person view and much more,” according to the mod’s description on NexusMods.

The notion of a metro system being added to the game may have been shut down once again, but there is still some new Cyberpunk 2077 content to look forward to. Phantom Liberty will be the first and last DLC released for CD Projekt Red’s hugely popular RPG title, but a firm release date is yet to be announced. However, Projekt Red has said that Phantom Liberty will be the studio’s biggest budget expansion yet.
