Carol Vorderman recently appeared on I’m A Celebrity… South Africa, where she competed alongside other memorable contestants from the reality show, such as Phil Tuffnel, Paul Burrell and Helen Flanagan.

She was hoping to become the first “legend” of the jungle but sadly missed out on the title.

Carol also regularly appears on ITV’s This Morning giving her opinion on the top news stories.

But this week, Carol will be hopping over to BBC as she joins the panel on Have I Got News For You.

On this Friday’s instalment of the satirical quiz show, which will be hosted by Steph McGovern, Carol will join team captains Paul Merton and Ian Hislop.

She will be joined by fellow guest, comedian and Britain’s Got Talent finalist, Nabil Abdulrashid.

Carol last appeared on the BBC show 17 years ago but the former Countdown star hasn’t been one to shy away from sharing her political opinion in recent years, which should stand her in good stead as she joins the Have I Got News For You panel.

Carol recently got into a heated row on Twitter with MP and women’s minister Maria Caulfield, after she didn’t attend the Government’s menopause hearing.

Carol revealed Maria had blocked her on the social media platform as she called on the minister to “show some respect and resign”.

This was after she accused Maria of not being “bothered to turn up” to the important hearing.

Maria responded by saying she had been unable to attend because she was meeting with campaigners.

Earlier in the year, Carol also called out members of the Conservative party who weren’t displaying their allegiance to their particular political party in their Twitter bios, unlike politicians from other parties.

She told her followers: “Out of 98 Tory MP Twitter accounts, only 28 have ‘Conservative in their bio or header art!!!

“So far 70 percent of them have deleted any reference to their own political party #ToriesDeletingTory.”

When speaking to LBC, Carol did outline that despite having strong opinions on the topic of politics, she is “politically independent”.

Fans will need to tune in to see which political news stories Carol will discuss on Friday night’s episode.

Have I Got News For You airs on BBC One on Fridays at 9pm, while earlier episodes are available on iPlayer.
