Camping Kits in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are infinitely reusable

During the early hours of Dragon’s Dogma 2, I actively avoided camping to preserve the precious Camping Kit carried by the Pawn I converted into a glorified pack mule. As it turns out, Camping Kits are infinitely reusable, and I’m a little bit of an idiot.

Camping Kits aren’t a consumable item in Dragon’s Dogma 2

That’s right! Unlike Curatives or Ferrystones, “using” a Camping Kit in Dragon’s Dogma 2 doesn’t consume the item. You can camp to your heart’s content and refill your Loss Gauge as much as you like with any Camping Kit. Well, if Arisen had hearts, that is. The only exception is if your camp is destroyed by monsters during the right.

At the very least, it turns out I’m not alone in my foolishness. Plenty of posts on X sharing similar experiences found their way onto my timeline this weekend. YouTube creator Jamie Moran‘s (AKA The Illusive Gamer) post below is my personal favorite of the bunch.

As you might expect, the replies to this post were filled with players united by the shared realization that we’re all a little silly. Likewise, a Reddit post by u/SideshowBoB44 details their experience of playing Dragon’s Dogma 2 for 15 hours before discovering that a Camping Kit is, indeed, worth carrying.

Now that you know Camping Kits don’t magically disappear after camping, I recommend picking up an Elite Camping Kit from a short side quest in Checkpoint Rest Town, west of Vermund. Two NPCs, Everard and Offulve, request that you bring them a Jadeite Orb. Offulve will reward you with gold and an Elite Camping Kit — but there’s a (morally questionable) way to receive rewards from both characters.

Purchase the real Jadeite Orb from the Scrap Shop in Checkpoint Rest Town and ask Ibrahim to create a forgery. Hand over the genuine Jadeite Orb to Everard for 12,000 Gold and a Ring of Skulduggery, then give the fake Orb to Offulve for an extra 3,000 Gold and Elite Camping Kit. See, no microtransactions needed!

Can Camping Kits be destroyed?

While Camping Kits are reusable, monsters can permanently destroy them during the night. Make sure to clear the surrounding area before cooking up a tasty meal and settling down with your Pawns for the night.

If your Camping Kit is destroyed, you can purchase a new one from vendors in most locations. I recommend only carrying one or two Camping Kits, as they’re incredibly heavy compared to other items. You can keep any more you find in storage, ready to pick up at an Inn.
