‘Brawlhalla’, ‘Hearthstone’, ‘Teeny Tiny Town’, ‘Bacon – The Game’, and More – TouchArcade

Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. We’ve fully put Saint Patrick’s Day updates behind us now, which means we’re on to the next season of updates: Easter. Many games have already gotten into the eggy mood, but we’ll sure see more as we head towards the holiday. There are a couple such updates today, along with a grab bag of other goodies. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it!

Bacon – The Game, Free

Ah, it’s one of these updates. The notes are straight to the point, and the update itself is quite tidy in terms of what it offers. Which means we must engage in a fine old games of Shaun stalling for space so that the formatting isn’t broken by having too short of an entry. That’s how I make it so that telling you the latest version of Bacon – The Game has twenty new levels to play actually takes a handful of sentences instead of just one. Tricks from an old veteran, friends. Feel free to use them for your book reports and scientific research documents. A slightly thick abstract never hurt anyone. Just don’t go too far with it. Even the most patient of readers will eventually get tired of a block of text that carries very little information and yet doesn’t have the good sense to wrap things up in a manner that doesn’t waste the time of the writer and the reader. Was that… was that too meta? I can never tell.

Teeny Tiny Town, Free

Alright, let’s break out those watercolor paints and get our hands dirty with pastel colors. It’s Easter time, and Teeny Tiny Town is not afraid to let players show it. You know, provided they pay up for the new Easter Theme. It’s a couple of bucks, which isn’t too bad. This update also features a new map that was created with the support of the community. Throw in a few bug fixes, tweaks, performance improvements, and a kitchen sink or two, and that’s the works.

Matchington Mansion, Free

Matchington Mansion is all about chasing those trends, including a new icon with a freezing lady and her freezing children. Crass, but whatever. That’s the zeitgeist. Or it was, several months ago. Now you probably need to drop them in lava, drown them, or have a snake eating them. Right, this update. It’s our obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle update for this week. There’s a new room in the form of the Estate Port Part 3, an Easter event, a new feathery themed season, and some bug fixes to round things out. Sure, that seems fine enough. Let’s move along.

Hearthstone, Free

Oh hey, another Hearthstone expansion launched. These used to be the biggest of news items, and now it’s just a little note here in the weekly updates. Well, that’s how things go when a game hits its ten-year anniversary. The new expansion is called Whizbang’s Workshop, and it brings you a bunch of new cards, a new Miniaturize keyword, and plenty of other things. This latest version also adds in some things related to the anniversary to get you in the festive mood. Ten years, eh? I wonder how Tasos is doing. He was a good dude. Presumably still is, I don’t know why I’m talking about him like he’s dead. If you see this, Tasos, cheers!

WHAT THE CAR?,

WHAT THE CAR?! I feel like the name calls for an interrobang rather than a mere question mark, but I’m not the boss of punctuation. Well, not outside of my classroom anyway. This update features a new level made in collaboration with Stantin Gaming, a new episode progress bar, a new feature that sees cards from specials added to the card album, and some nice little bug fixes to keep things running properly. That new level features some custom combinations of building blocks, and you might want to mess around with them yourself to see what you can come up with.

Goat Simulator+,

Okay, Easter time again. And I have to say, this one is fully in the spirit of the season. Easter eggs have been hidden all over the map, and you need to use all of your goaty abilities and intelligence to track them down. If you manage to find them all, you’ll be rewarded with a very nice treat: the Chocolate Goat. I don’t think you’re supposed to eat it, but I’m not going to tell you what to do with your present from the Easter Goat.

Cut the Rope 3,

Oh no, this is another curt, no-nonsense update. I’ve already burned my usual space-filling text, too. Well, nothing to it but through it. The latest update for the latest release of the lovely Cut the Rope offers up twenty-seven new levels to play, and nine new Nommies to go with them. That’s one Nommie for every three levels, which is a fair exchange rate in today’s challenging economy. How’s that? Is it enough to maintain the formatting of the article? I think it is.

Disney SpellStruck,

This game hasn’t gotten quite as many updates as I expected to, or at least it hasn’t gotten them at the frequency I was expecting. Well, that’s fine. Here’s one for us to savor for a bit. Sulley from Monsters Inc. has been added to the game, and he’s packing his powerful Scream Surplus ability to help you score big. To go with him, there’s a new limited time event to play. It… might be over already? I’m not sure. Have a look and see. Otherwise, it’s what you would guess: bug fixes! Performance improvements! We love all of those things.

Simon’s Cat – Story Time,

Okay, let’s see what we’ve got in this update. Bonus levels? That’s promising. Yes, play some bonus levels and get some coins. We all like coins, that is known. The notes also promise fifty new levels every week, and that means two hundred in a month. That’s a lot. Quite a lot. We’ve also got some bug fixes, performance improvements, and some updates to the visuals. That feels like a theme today. Lots of the important maintenance stuff. It’s always there, but the notes don’t always mention it because they have lots of other things to go over. I guess we’re all a bit tired this week.

Brawlhalla, Free

I’m at the end, and I haven’t given out the coveted UMMSotW award for this week yet. I guess I’ll give it to Brawlhalla, because this latest update isn’t half-bad. It’s a Star Wars event, and it sees a number of popular characters joining the roster. Anakin, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and Darth Vader are available, along with new map Mustafar and a whole bunch of other cool Star Wars-related goodies. March the 25th be with you!

That about wraps it up for last week’s significant updates. I’m sure I’ve missed some, though, so please feel free to comment below and let everyone know if you think something should be mentioned. As usual, major updates will likely get their own news stories throughout this week, and I’ll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
