Boris Johnson is reportedly “in talks” to sign up for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! later this year.

It comes a year after his former cabinet minister Matt Hancock joined the ITV show hosted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

However, the former Prime Minister is expected to decline the invitation into the Australian jungle, according to The Mirror.

The publication has claimed the nation’s former leader is thought to have pushed for a deal which eclipses the £400,000 paid to Hancock last year.

“He’s not looking likely,” a source said. “The truth is he doesn’t need the cash as much as he did before, thanks to his income from speeches and, of course, he still thinks he’s going to stage some sort of political comeback at some stage.”

His father Stanley Johnson appeared on the show six years ago along with Coronation Street’s Jennie McAlpine and Made In Chelsea’s Georgia Toffolo.

The ex-Prime Minister stood down as a Tory MP after an investigation into the Partygate scandal found he had misled Parliament.

Those heading the investigation recommended a lengthy suspension from the House of Commons.

The 59-year-old’s exit from politics came less than a year after he resigned as Prime Minister following a police fine for breaching his own coronavirus rules during lockdown.

Johnson had received £2.5million as an advance for speeches, it was revealed earlier this year.

According to reports, he’s believed to have gotten £5million in the six months since leaving office.

Former Health Secretary Hancock told ITV viewers he’d signed up to the show to shine a light on dyslexia as well as “show [people] who I am”.

While Lioness Jill Scott was crowned Queen of the Jungle, Hancock still made the final three.

His appearance caused a stir with both campmates and ITV viewers who did not give him a warm welcome into camp.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! returns to ITV later this year.
