After some mysterious teasers, the next Call of Duty has been officially announced, and as we suspected, it’s named Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

The official Call of Duty blog has revealed that the next entry in the series will be titled Black Ops 6, confirming earlier reporting that followed some cryptic live-action teasers for the upcoming shooter.

Not much else has been revealed, but we will be getting more information June 9 during a planned worldwide announcement. The earlier video showing some people breaking into Mount Rushmore to place banners that read “the truth lies” was present in the blog post with the title ‘wake up (rushmore)’.

The video is up on YouTube and, at the time of writing, sits at over 5,700 likes and with just 418 dislikes. One commenter wrote, “90’s Black Ops game set during the Gulf War. Sounds interesting.” Previous reports have suggested the game would be set during the Gulf War, but beyond that, details are unknown.

Another commenter wrote, “please don’t let this game get ruined by warzone and rushed ‘dlc’s’”. Recently, fans were unhappy with Modern Warfare 3 for including a King Kong collaboration that costs £70 to fully unlock.

Microsoft has previously promised it would keep Call of Duty on multiple platforms, but Xbox owners will be happy to hear that Black Ops 6 should also be coming to Game Pass at no extra cost.

Back in April, 27,000 Call of Duty accounts were banned for cheating, with Team Ricochet, the anti-cheat moderators, saying there would be “more ban waves to come.” Many players complained about being incorrectly banned.

In other news, an upcoming idle virtual pet desktop game called Weyrdlets has a new Steam demo out that you can try for free, now.
