No Rest for the Wicked is a challenging game. It’s essential that you allocate your stats in the best way possible, especially in the early game. This guide covers the best stats to level up first in No Rest for the Wicked.

No Rest for the Wicked Stats, explained

Before we get into the best stats, let’s discuss what each does and how leveling up works in No Rest for the Wicked. Every time you level up, you will be rewarded with three attribute points. You can then allocate your attribute points into eight different stats. Below is what each stat focuses on in No Rest for the Wicked.

  • Dexterity: Weapons that scale with dexterity receive an attribute bonus.
  • Intelligence: Weapons that scale with intelligence receive an attribute bonus.

The stats you should focus on first in No Rest for the Wicked are Stamina, Health, and Focus. These three are an absolute must to survive the brutal challenge of the first boss and even the standard enemies you’ll encounter in the early areas.

Focusing on the three stats mentioned will help you the most early on in your playthrough, allowing you to stay alive longer, dodge and block more, and execute more special abilities

You may immediately want to raise Equip Load or the stat that increases your weapon scaling, but that would be a mistake. I’ll explain why.

Equip Load is pointless at the start because you don’t really get enough items early on in the game to get over-encumbered often. As for weapon scaling, you’ll discover that mastering dodges (Stamina) and being able to survive a deadly hit when you make a mistake (Health) is more important than the overall damage output of your weapon.

As you progress further in the story and feel comfortable with all the combat mechanics, it’s smart to start investing in Equip Load and weapon scaling. I would say Equip Load is the least important to focus on, but you should definitely throw a couple of attribute points toward it here and there.

Besides the leveling system, there are other mechanics you’ll discover early on in your playthrough. For example, fishing. Yes, you can go fishing in No Rest for the Wicked. Check out our guide on how to get a fishing rod!
