While you can choose normal Vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2, there are also Advanced Vocations, but which are the best to choose? Since Vocations matter greatly for you and your Pawns’ playstyle, you should know about the best Advanced Vocations.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: How to unlock Advanced Vocations
Advanced Vocations won’t be available to you from the start of Dragon’s Dogma 2. You’ll be able to choose from four starter classes during character creation, which are Fighter, Thief, Archer, and Mage. Then further into the game, you can unlock Advanced Vocations by completing certain quests.
Until the game releases, we don’t know yet which quests you need, but we do know that you’ll need to head to a Vocation Guild to acquire that quest. This quest will involve you getting a weapon related to that Advanced Vocation, which will unlock it for you.
Best Advanced Vocations
As we know it, there are six different Advanced Vocations, some of them exclusive to your Arisen character. Others are even considered Hybrid Vocations, which are a combination of two Basic Vocations. These are all the Advanced Vocations:

Although we don’t have our hands on the game yet to know how they feel, it seems like the best Advanced Vocations are Sorcerer, Mystic Spearhand, and Magick Archer. The Sorcerer is a step up from the Mage class to specialize in massive AoE spells that can damage enemies more than Mages.
Mystic Spearhand is a mesh of both melee and magick combat. You can wield a Duospear, which can deal damage to multiple enemies at once, as well as cast magick spells. Then we have the Magick Archer who can use long-range attacks with magick-infused arrows. It’s a level above Archer, and from all the gameplay videos we’ve seen, Magick Archer looks incredibly fun to play.
This doesn’t mean that the other Advanced Vocations aren’t as good, but these three stand out more. Warriors are like Fighters, but they deal a lot more damage with their two-handed weapons. Tricksters are a support class that can cast illusions on enemies but also buff the party’s power.
Warfarer seems interesting as well, seeing as you can choose between a variety of weapons a skills from all Vocations. This Vocation is like a jack-of-all-trades type of class.
