Below Deck alumni Aesha Scott may have first found fame with Below Deck Mediterranean but she is now in a starring role in a spin-off Down Under.

With almost 10 years’ worth of experience under her belt, Aesha was no stranger to the world of yachting when she featured in Below Deck Med.

She first made an appearance in season four and was then brought back for the following series after Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier was controversially fired.

But by the end of season five, the 29-year-old was having doubts about whether or not this was actually the life for her.

Of course, she decided to continue pursuing this career as she was promoted to Chief Stew for the fourth spin-off in the franchise, Below Deck Down Under.

It wasn’t exactly easy to get a job on board some of the world’s most luxurious yachts though.

In order to get her “big break”, Aesha admitted to TV Week it was an “embarrassing” start to her career.

”You’ve got to throw your dignity in the bin”, she said.

“I flew to where I could get on a boat and just roamed the docks and tried to get anyone to talk to me.

”As you’re walking down the dock you’ve got all these yachties on deck starting their work for the day watching and judging you as you beg for a job. ‘But who the f**k cares.”

The New Zealander went on to elaborate on the difference between serving in the Mediterranean and around Australia.

She described working in the Med as “very traditional yachting” with the need for a “formal high-end service”, in comparison to Down Under.

Aesha added: ”It’s more buddy buddy with the guests [in the Australian series], you feel you are friends with them rather than being their server.

”I mean, I can do both styles of service and I was trained traditionally but I just think that with the personality that I have I thrive when I can poke fun and have a laugh.”

And going by the synopsis of Down Under season two’s premiere episode, it’s going to be a lively series.

The description reads: “A new charter season gets underway in Cairns, Australia’s gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.

“The interior and exterior departments start man-down as the crew scrambles to cater to party-hearty guests.”

Below Deck Down Under season two premieres on Monday, July 17, on Bravo.
