Celebrity Beat The Chasers returned to ITV tonight, hosted by Bradley Walsh, and saw four brave celebrities take on the panel of chasers. While England ladies goalkeeper Mary Earps, comedian Chris McCausland, and Pointless presenter Alexander Armstrong all failed to beat the brainboxes, comic and actor Nish Kumar walked away with an impressive £25,000.

He managed to best the panel – comprising of Anne Hegerty, Darragh Brennan, Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Paul Sinha and Jenny Ryan – to win the huge cash prize. However, viewers were not impressed with his questions, calling them “easy”.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, they made their feelings known. @Katie_Murphy776 commented: When the contestant gets questions like “what’s the main ingredient of Heinz Ketchup?” of course they’re gonna win lol #BeatTheChasers.”

@pooboy191 opined: “Tomato soup coal f****** easy questions #BeatTheChasers.” @liadaksy observed: “That was easy for him #BeatTheChasers.”

Meanwhile @Gmackematix chimed in: “Someone already pointing out the easiest ones were easy. #BeatTheChasers.”

However, not everyone was complaining abut his win, with many also complimenting the funnyman on his victory.

@Suzy_H14 pointed out: “Yes the questions were easy but fair play too him & remember it’s for charity #BeatTheChasers.”

@SeanieQuigley27 praised him for his win, writing: “@MrNishKumar Huge congrats Nish on winning £25,000 for your charity on tonight’s #BeatTheChasers you have done amazingly well!”

Nish was the first player of the night, and his win, which will go to a refugee charity, got the show off to an amazing start, but unfortuanately the other celebrities couldn’t maintian the momentum.

Second player Mary Earps struggled from the off and was forced to admit she had never heard of the phrase “knows their onions” when it came up in a question.

Anne Hegerty pointed out that Chris McCausland had appeared on The Chase before, which led him to quip that he had wiped the floor with her. He wasn’t able to repeat that performance though, and also lost out.

Finally, Alexander Armstrong made a valiant effort to win £100,000 for his charity, but to no avail.

Despite losing, they were all given £1,000 to take away for their chosen causes.

Celebrity Beat The Chasers is on ITV and ITVX on Friday nights at 9pm.
