A new EastEnders’ trailer suggests a second murder will be committed in Walford this Christmas.

The teaser shows Kathy Beale (played by Gillian Taylforth) angrily chopping the heads off of pink flowers with a meat cleaver and grimacing at the camera.

The clip has led to speculation that Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) might be killed off by Kathy.

Fans took to Twitter to share their theories, with one writing: “Symbolising the loss of love and devotion… Rocky’s betrayal when she finds out he caused the fire? She did say there’ll be murders before Christmas… killer Kathy??? So excited for the last part of the puzzle…”

Another simply said: “SHE CUT ROSES? ROSE? CINDY??”.

A third commented: “Get Cindy back in witness protection or dead for real this time, just anything!! Get her OFF my screen.”

While a fourth looked into what they believed was the symbolism of the flowers. “I thought they was Roses – as in she wants to kill Cindy/“Rose”, but I think they’re tulips lol. #EastEnders They’re pink tho. Linda? Does Kathy kill Dean to protect Linda?”

Cindy has recently had Kathy, her mother-in-law, arrested for the cafe fire and Kathy would be furious if she found out.

Five of the six trailers have been released, but Kathy is the only character presented with a potential weapon so far.

EastEnders’ Christmas 2023 is set to be the least merry yet with explosive storylines including the two potential murder whodunnits.

Characters will reportedly be fearing for their lives in dramatic scenes as a fire spreads rapidly through the building.

What the soap has teased is that some Albert Square favourites will face huge repercussions in the aftermath.

Earlier this year, the soap released a first look at the 2023 Christmas episode in a flashforward scene where Denise Fox (Diane Parish), Kathy, Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), and Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) found a dead body at what looked like a Christmas party at the Queen Vic.
