Being an alchemist is no easy feat. Not only do you need to be versed in the complexities of synthesis, but you also need to know how to find high-quality materials to gather for your recipes.
In Atelier Ryza 3, you’ll find about half of the available ingredients using your base abilities while exploring new areas and facing various types of monsters. But if you want to make the best items and gear possible, you’ll need to ensure you level up your gathering skills. This guide will show you how to raise your Gathering and Staff levels, so you can be the best alchemist in all the lands.
Gathering Level
As you are exploring the various regions in the game, you’ll come across items that can be gathered simply using your hands. This is regular Gathering, and although you don’t need a tool to pick up these ingredients, you will need to increase your gathering level in order to have access to the materials that are initially locked. You can level up your gathering by spending SP (skill points) on the appropriate skills. There are three types of upgrades to consider here: Level, Quality, and Quantity. In order to get access to new materials, you’ll need to focus on the level first.
When viewing the skill tree, you’ll find all the gathering upgrades to the left of the center of the tree. After unlocking Gathering Quality Boost Lv. 1 and the Emerald Band, you’ll have access to the Gathering Lv. 2 upgrade. This will let you gather items hidden behind the first locked material slot you’ll see when gathering out in the wild. After unlocking the level 2 upgrade, you’ll gain access to more Quality and Quantity upgrades, as well as the Lv. 3 upgrade. Once unlocked, you’ll be able to harvest all standard gathering items available in the game.
Staff Level
The other type of gathering you can upgrade via the skill tree pertains to your Staff. Like the regular Gathering, raising your Staff Level lets you harvest special materials. Some materials can only be gathered this way, so it is important to focus on leveling it up as early as possible.
Like before, you’ll find the Staff Level upgrades to the left of the center of the skill tree, on the same path as the regular Gathering. After unlocking the Emerald Band and Gathering Lv. 2, you’ll gain access to both Staff Quality upgrades. And after unlocking Gathering Lv.3, you’ll gain access to Staff Lv.2 and Lv.3, as well as both Quantity upgrades.
